this is the most perplexing thing ever.. Of all the possible reasons for why IA doesn't allow for owner to reset - none of them are good.
Dated perhaps, but I have tried this. Local European/Imports speciality shop, changed oil but existing tools were unable to reset service warning light.Best chance imo would be to take to independent service provider that specializes in bmw and see what they can do.
God damn Ineos.. f the useless portal axles. Spend time to give us ability to reset oil change reminder!Dated perhaps, but I have tried this. Local European/Imports speciality shop, changed oil but existing tools were unable to reset service warning light.
That’s very disappointing. However it also reads very much like a tier - 0 support providing a generic approved answer. The answerr actually just describes the status quo. No indication of future plans.I’ve been communicating with Ineos over the last week initially via phone calls, but most recently via emails to have their answers in writing. I posted on another thread about Ineos’ decision NOT to have any software update to permanently remove the over speed warning, which I wasn’t happy with and that’s coming from a two time owner who loves these vehicles. I also asked about some other things and have been trying to slowly put that info out as don’t want to bombard my fellow owners with a shit load of bad news. Again, you can take it for what it is and not believe it or call or email them yourselves. They can also change their minds later down the road. Below is an email from Ineos about the service warning. Like I said on another thread, there are many OBD2 plug ins like “Carista” that can “jail break” certain codes like on my 2022 Tundra to turn off seat belt warning sounds, roll down/up windows in sequence etc etc. So we still have the chance of one of these companies making something in the future for us to be able to permanently disable some of this stuff. However, it appears Ineos is not too owner friendly on most of these warnings…..

Edit: trust me I will be the first to come on here and applaud Ineos if they make a change and have some way of updating our vehicles so we can reset the service warning! I have two that will have to drive 4 hours one way to get them reset. I knew this going into the purchases so it’s on me not Ineos. I hoping they have some service centers created near me in 2025. Fingers crossed…….
I also reached out to my dealership’s service manager, who has been awesome, and a couple vendors who sell Grenadier products and are well informed/connected, and they are on this forum. I will leave it up to them to post what they know, but doubt they will as they don’t want the negativity from this sort of bad news they need us to be happy to buy buy buy (nothing wrong with that btw)…..but everyone I reached out to on all this stuff basically backed up this email and the other emails I received. For all of us owners, yes me included, that have been waiting for a software update to turn off the speed warning, service reset, lane change warning, etc etc…..it’s not coming. I would love to come on here in a few months and say I was wrong, trust me on this. So guess we all will see in time. They may change their mind later on, but for now we got what we got and you know what I still love both mine!! I am also still planing on buying a QM.That’s very disappointing. However it also reads very much like a tier - 0 support providing a generic approved answer. The answerr actually just describes the status quo. No indication of future plans.
There is very little incentive for them to over promise and under deliver
Exactly!! I didn’t want to go into all the same details from my other post as it was long. I had talked to an attorney who is a close family friend and he is also a defense attorney for insurance company. The USA is a frickin sue happy country now and all these safety things are probably there to try to protect manufacturers from future law suits, but no matter what they will come! But yes, removing any of the ADAS safety things permanently would be setting themselves up for failure in that perspective. Guess that’s why they leave it up to the owners to turn off each time. Never thought of that until he said that to me, but now I get it and understand. Don’t know when/where it started, but nowadays you look at someone the wrong way you may get sued!!Would be a very "brave" automotive manufacturer which "deleted" ADAS-type features given the increasing Nanny state regulatory over reach of Transport bureaucracies in most Western countries and the proliferation of personal injury litigation lawyers ( no offence to lawyer forum members!).
Not a bad idea. I might just give it a try tomorrow. What if you just tape over the camera?
Hahahahaha……You think it makes noises/warning sounds now?! After you try on your end post the outcome so we can compare notes…..my attempt was a huge failure! Maybe it’s all in the tape being used……Not a bad idea. I might just give it a try tomorrow.
I assume that would just trigger the camera warning light?Hahahahaha……You think it makes noises/warning sounds now?! After you try on your end post the outcome so we can compare notes…..my attempt was a huge failure! Maybe it’s all in the tape being used……

Tell us, what happens. I’m guessing it isn’t just the camera light.
One of the BEST post I have seen in some time!! Thank you @Phred !!!!No…no..no…you have it all wrong.
Think of an older mission impossible type film where they are robbing a vault…and there’s a security camera.
You take a picture of a typical rural road with a speed limit sign in the shot. You then photoshop the speed limit to 120mph. Make sure there are lane lines in there too.
Then, you print this out and paste it to your windshield in front of the camera.
Voila! Always in the lane…always under the speed limit…no clicky-clicky!
Your camera is in the center top of your windscreen bud.One of the BEST post I have seen in some time!! Thank you @Phred !!!!
Btw, I was dumb enough and tried to block all 4 of these bad boys…... We also keep saying “cameras”, but are these actual real cameras or special sensors? I don’t even know and I own two. The rear definitely has a camera, but I think that’s it & the front are just special sensors. I would think if they were real cameras we could pull up their view. Someone know for sure?

Thanks pal. Assume it’s the thing in the yellow circle below. Btw, these last few posts have just been a test to anyone reading, just trying to make sure y’all were paying attention!! blahahahaha, no I really miffed right over this one and have no problem saying when I am wrong. Btw, @IslandFalconer since you commented here, I will do same as I have a to do list and on it was sending you a PM about another thread. I was wrong on it too, I have never said I was always right cause I know myself! I am a deeply flawed individual and can admit it. I had to do some researching on myself and found it was another member who had a loaner vehicle be used theirs broke down and then the 1st loaner broke down on him and then a 2nd loaner was also giving him problems. So I found it hard to believe one person had 3 Grenny’s all with issues that caused them to not be drive able . I thought it was you, but it was not so I apologize. But PLEASE don’t remind us you’re still in your loaner and they still haven’t fixed yours. I joke I joke I kid I kid. Believe it or not, I’m actually very easy to get along with and love to joke around. I also don’t have a filter, as if you didn’t know this already, so I say what’s on my mind good or bad. I have ZERO issues with anyone on here, heck it’s anonymous and most of us have no clue whose on the other end of the messaging/posts. Some have made personal contact and have become friends and that’s great. On a serious note, I do hate your still having such issues. Anyone buying a new vehicle, especially spending the money we have on these, should have a happy experience. If I can say anything negative about your posting, I do notice you get pretty angry at people when they don’t agree with you. Maybe it’s because of what you’re going thru, but most people on here are nice and seem to be trying to help others. Nothing else I can say other than good luck on your situation.Your camera is in the center top of your windscreen bud.
