Hi all,

for those of you that have the G900 and G900 pro you should know a few things.

The good stuff:

- the 67designs mount is compatible based on all reports and data i've seen.
- your camera in the rear needs to be replaced by the new tri-wire camera (not surprises here)
- you need to pull a new wire and camera up front for the forward camera (the third camera). i don't know what kind of mounts it would work on but i didn't think that was a hard problem to solve for.

The really bad stuff:

- you can't re-use your hardwire power kit. you need to pull new cables and install a new kit
- you can't re-use your wiring to the rear camera. you have to pull a wire all the way from the head unit

A few thoughts:

Its unclear if the GPS module is compatible. i have mine mounted close to the mirror so i didnt worry about that very much since if i'm pulling a new wire to the third camera, pulling the GPS module isn't a big deal.

In my case the new wiring to the rear and having to pull a new hardwire kit is a deal breaker. I ended up cancelling my order when i learned about this. The cost of rewiring (assuming you have a shop do it) exceeds the cost of the kit where i live. The benefit of that third camera at roughly double the cost of the new hardware just isn't worth it to me. They should really have thought harder about the install base upgrades and not just net new installs when they came out with this design.

A minor rant:

you'd figure they would standardize on some regular wiring format for automotive, like mipi or something similar. I'm super surprised to learn that they didn't do that. that way you could plug in an old camera into a newer head unit and turn a wiring problem into a software codec problem. seems much, much smarter to me. but i guess consumer electronics is different from my domain of enterprise technology where forward compatibility are things we think long and hard about.

i figure you should all know.

The cabin camera is pointing forward from the rear view mirror over the hood.
This thread is for the cabin version a.k.a the Uber version or vomit cam. The 3rd camera faces into the cabin. As per this image copied from post #1 it's on a separate bracket so it can be mounted anywhere inside.

I hope that isnt the same for future upgrades on the front/rear combo. The 850, for example, used the same wiring for the 900/900pro. You just needed to change the mirror/camera.
