General Service Reset Procedure - Oil Change (currently only possible with dealer level scan tools)

It’s a wide angle camera with some night vision type capabilities. It sees more than the spectrum you would see on your back up camera.
I really had no clue. Thanks. Btw, linked the thread I was thinking was you so you know I wasn’t making all that up. Don’t know why I got y’all confused. Different facts etc. I will admit my mind is not as sharp as it once was, or maybe what I thought it was could be the issue!!🤔

I follow Ineos on Instagram. Going forward I plan on replying to each post with a statement such as: "YOU PROMISSED US SERVICE MANUALS AND THE ABILITY TO WORK ON OUR OWN VEHICLES!! REQUIRING A VISIT TO THE DEALER JUST TO RESET THE SERVICE WARNING AFTER AN OIL CHANGE IS UNACCEPTABLE!". Yes, I will be 'shouting'.

I suggest that we all do this. Flood their social media so they can’t ignore us.

They will block you, I can speak to that.

Ok so finally got an answer from INEOS and it’s rather pathetic. They claim that there is NO way to reset the Service Reminder without bringing it to a dealer and having them perform the reset. Absolutely ridiculous in the context of what this vehicle is supposed to be. Formal response from INEOS below.

There has to be a way - we just need to figure it out, without the help of INEOS.
Well Massachusetts has Right to Repair law now... Wait til I serve them. You have a specific contact?

Can I ask a question on the Massachusetts R to R law. An oil change yes because it is a maintaining the vehicle and is required. But will/ does it apply to the service reminder, a courtesy function? The reminder is a guidance note. It's function doesn't impair vehicle operation and no damage will be done by ignoring it. Therefore is it a repair that falls within the act.

After the big "come on" with a promise of honouring DIY servicing, I recall there was also sentence in the sales brochure which said something along the lines of " of course we'll expect to see you once a year... " etc
The subject of this thread is how Ineos have ensured that such a visit occurs.
I'm biding my time... the "market" will sort most of these "imbuggerances" in due course...

I was finally able to get into the INEOS dealer in San Antonio this morning to have them reset the service indicator and they were awesome! They only have one tech dedicated to the INEOS service side, but he immediately came to the vehicle, plugged into the ODBII port, and was able to reset the service reminder in about 2 minutes.

Love my Grenadier, but this particular issue may break my brain.

I do all my own maintenance and have no different plans for this truck. I reached out to Sewell Ineos in Plano when I started to get service warnings at about 50 days out. I was encouraged to do anything I wanted, but told that the only way to reset any warning was a trip to the dealer.

I have nothing bad to say about Travis or Sewell. They have taken care of me, they have been honest and amazing. I would (and have) recommended them to people interested in the Grenadier.

But, as many of you have said, a HUGE part of the desire to own this was the "Built on Purpose" mantra that this thing is built to be abused - and repaired - by the end user.

A two hour drive to a dealer to turn off an oil change light is not that.

Looking forward to what 2025 holds, but if I hit another oil change light reset that requires me taking an entire day to drive and get the tech to turn the light off, I don't know.

Ineos automotive’s incompetence prioritizes useless jackets rather than their existential crisis.

The Wikipedia entry on this aspect of their downfall will be epic.

Every week I am seeing new owners posting about their first and shocked experience with the vehicle’s non working hvac and / or service chime that cannot be reset. The business is operating on fumes.

They don’t have the runway to be coordinating jackets and ceo doing the PR circuit.. they are a scrappy startup and needs to be heads down and simply GSD these vehicle problems away

You know, I don't even feel like it's incompetence on the part of Ineos. It feels like over cautiousness(?)

Whether it be for legal, PR, or some kind of production or software issue. It seems like they are holding tight control over the most basic stuff.

We all knew we were buying a first generation car when we preordered. I assumed there would be some stumbling blocks. Fair enough.

What I want to say to Ineos is "trust us." We want to push this truck to the limit. A service manual wouldn't kill you.

I get all the emails about the competitions it wins, and I think "where was the dealer support?"

I purchased my vehicle from Sewell in Plano and they were awesome. They (the dealers) are having the same issues as everyone else. The recently opened Sewell dealer in San Antonio is great as well.

My 2 cents on the maintenance reset is simple - there are various warranty issues and every country has a different set of laws applying to maintenance under warranty. I think INEOS is simply trying to sort this all out and I don’t think they really understood what it meant to have to honor a warranty on a user serviced vehicle. I also think they want of help support the dealer network and in the US - service is a very profitable business.

Having said that - I feel confident the “market” will figure something out to handle the service resent and others. My Autel already clears all the codes and only a matter of time until someone figures out the maintenance reset.

There are literally less than 20K of these vehicles in the field, across the world. Chances are there will not be a market for anyone to invest in time to do this, unless there is an owner out there taking this on as a passion project.

Cracking the software is absolutely NOT the same as machining some hardware component.

The USA, their largest market, have a worldwide reputation as the champions of lawyering up. Thus they are cautious.

Hoping there is a software guru on the forum somewhere who has a penchant for the Grenadier and decides one evening during a Mountain Dew and Cheetos fueled coding marathon to write a program and put it on a OBD dongle (not unlike the GAP Diagnostic tool for LR) and make it available. I’m sure it would be a pain to sort through all the various layers of cobbled together supplier and factory software but if my coding skills weren’t so rusty this is the route I’d go.

Hello, do you know which diagnostic device was connected via OBD2?
I have been trying to crack the Ineos system with two IT colleagues via OBD2 for some time. It just takes time...there is a nice forum in Germany where people exchange information about diagnostic devices: https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/on-board-diagnose-b295.html
With Autel, Launch, iCarsoft (my favorite), Vident etc. with the "All vehicle brands software" you can do the standard things, but a service reset is not possible (yet).
After consulting the manufacturers of the diagnostic devices, it is indeed a matter of time before the service reset is also available for a niche vehicle such as the Grenadier.

I really hope you don’t beat Ineos to this outcome. If you do, it would just show extreme lack of good faith from them.
