I'm not sure I'm an audiophile, but the factory stereo won't cut it for me. I heard it Wednesday at my test drive. It's OK, but just OK.
Agree, replacement speakers as a minimum for me. Looking forward to the start of the “replacement audio gear”thread when vehicles start getting delivered and then tampered with.

The OEM system will have to be utter shite before I consider replacing it.

Now I know that my interpretation of utter shite might be completely different here but as long as the speakers don’t sound like an old tin can and the speakers start farting when I turn it up a bit I will be satisfied.

I could be tempted to just change the speakers at some point if I have time on my hands though 😝

I’m going for the built on purpose look..

I’ll miss the big arse centre speaker on the dash and tweeters in each A pillar in the Sahara 200. Gives you clarity without having to crank it too loud, and boom when you want it.

I guess it will be quite a challenge to replicate the 'modern' setup of centre speaker, tweeters and sub in the boot.

It was the one luxury option I really wanted, I’ve only had it on one car but premium audio really makes long journeys much more enjoyable.

But wasn't that a prototype? If I am building a prototype, I would put a cheap stereo in
It was a PTO2. The rep said it was the same. Maybe it is. Maybe not, but I had no reason not to take him at his word.

ETA:
Why would they source and purchase a separate model of stereo / speakers specifically for the prototypes? Makes no sense, business or logic.

I would raid a parts bin because the prototype goal is not to showcase your stereo. No matter what we will see what shows up in final production. correct me but the key ingredients to a great stereo is great speakers, amp and adding a sub woofer.

Yes, the primary thing that drives good sound, aside from speaker quality, is having enough power to drive them properly, and at the correct rated resistance. (1, 2, 4 or 8 ohm) This is especially true of a subwoofer. I have an old amplifier that was rated stable at 100W x at 4 Ohm. I drove it at 0.5 Ohm mono, ~400 W and it sounded incredible, although it did get a bit warm when driven hard. Orion HCCA. My old system hit 140+dB and was installed in my 1987 Mustang. Those were the days.

This sounded absolutely amazing.

Add also components placed and matched to the shape and sound reflective surfaces of the vehicle's interior. e.g. "big box" shape and hard reflective surfaces of the Grenadier vs the different (cocoon) "shape" and relatively "plush" soft surfaces of a coupe or sedan.
These are critical elements to take account of....
