Has anyone installed the owl vans slider step? If so, what are your thoughts and can you send some pictures?
Read the extreme testing thread from onefin, as One of vehicles has the owl steps. Another has whiteknuckle and the other two have black sheep.

Has anyone installed the owl vans slider step? If so, what are your thoughts and can you send some pictures?
I have the Owl Slider steps on my Grenadier, I also work for Owl so I will try to not be biased.
They are a fully functional step and rock slider at the same time.
My wife is 5'0" tall and my daughter is about the same height.
I have the Eibach lift springs and 34" tires, so it is tall and difficult to get into the vehicle with out a step.
They fully function as designed as a steel slider and they can take the full weight of the Grenadier in a offroad situation.
The Adrenaline Grenadier on our trip had the Owl tube sliders without the step and they also performed as intended.
The Agile and Black Sheep sliders also performed very well under the conditions as well.
I maintain that I would not take a Grenadier "offroading" without some sort of functional slider.
There are lots of choices in the aftermarket for steps and sliders at the moment, so I think that you can make a choice based on how much step you want or need, and how you want them to look.

Thank you for this! Since you work for Owl, any pics from the shop of an install on a stock grenadier? Mine is currently stock and I’m trying to assess the aesthetics, too, in addition to the durability/functionality. Many thanks!

Is there a measurement of the distance between the step platform and the door’s bottom lip?

This would be a highly objective way to compare how “step friendly” the various sliders.

Aesthetically speaking, I prefer dissent off-road sliders. However the step surface appears to be a couple inches higher than owl sliders

😂 I punched up “sliders fj80” to check the “grenadier” tax… it’s about 100%.

I live on the wet coast and I've delayed my slider purchase to see what else comes along. Someone please correct me if I'm misguided, but isn't stainless steel the way to go for reduced maintenance? I know stainless *can* eventually rust and powder coat or paint chips off anything. But it seems like odds are way in its favour, no? DOM/square/joined/welded...

Given the Grenadier's price point, the stainless premium pays off over its life, no?

I want slider protection first but functional steps are a nice-to-have unless they're some dangly bit that becomes a hangup.

What maintenance?? Paint gets scratched on either one and will need touched up either way, and the 1/4" steel I have on other rigs looks fine 10-20 years later. Honestly, SS is a solution looking for a problem. The ss buzz units are 3mm. The mounting arms get bent in transit. Gusset all you want, but slam that on a rock and it's gonna dent. Body protection isn't where weight is the first priority.

Thanks for the response @Zimm . I guess I wouldn’t bother touching up scratches and scrapes much if the rust wouldn’t set in very quickly with SS. That seems like less maintenance to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

OTOH the strength difference between 3mm and 6mm would probably be real. Thanks and I’ll watch for that spec. 👍🏻

AndyT - attached some photos to give you several angles. I was in the same boat as my wife needed a step but I also wanted a rock slider. Installation was easy and all the holes lined up perfect. Each one weighs about 75lbs and are solid. Great service and communication from Shawdowmarq and shipping to Seattle area was $450. Not a fan of the WK in the top plate, but you can see how it’s attached in one picture from underneath. Eventually I will swap that top plate out. One other note is using this as a step is pretty high at roughly 16.5” above pavement, so a lower step would make the climb in easier perhaps. Feel free to DM with any other questions or dimension needs.
You mention this slider is still a bit too high to be a convenient step. I assume this observation applies to all steps where the step surface is directly below the IG's black plastic rocker panel. I tested it out by lifting my foot into that level, and it felt high!
