If it is an internal float/rheostat i'd be a bit dissapointed, they aren't really capable of giving any meaningful data regarding MPG or DTE. It may be there as a guide to how full the tank is but it's much more likely that @emax has it right using the ODB data.

Resetting on every trip seems silly. My GF's Audi TT does that (resets with an engine stop) whereas the Toyato keeps a running total.
I get around 200 miles from 40liters so reset my Landrover's trip each time and look at the dash from time to time. Much less stress :)

My 2 cents based on my recent trip . Highway speeds @ 75-79 cruise control my fuel consumption is around 13l/100km , same as my 3l Nissan Patrol , so nothing unexpected there .
Full tank of Diesel will do for me 400miles highway speeds .

As Jean said the display for remaining fuel is really weird . After 230 miles of driving it was only showing a line off 3/4 full so essentially 3/4 full . I went for a refuel and it took 42L to the first click of the pump .
Last time i checked 42 is no where near the 1/4 of 90L . Anyway at least now i know how to calculate my remaining fuel better.

One other thought was that since the gauge is electronic is this something that can be fixed with a software update??/ (I will show myself out now ) ......

Just completed 700 Miles round trip here in the UK. Mostly motorway & duel carriageway with 100 miles of A road. Diesel SW in cruise varying from 55 mph to 80 mph (on the speedo). Vehicle started with 1200 miles from new and returned 25.5 MPG (11 Ltr / 100 KM) over the entire trip. Hopefully, once worn in, I am expecting closer to 28 MPG.
Same issues with the fuel gauge not shifting from FULL for the first 150 miles but the MPG shown was accurate when calculated with litres added / miles done. Centre screen came in at 26 MPG.
700 miles carried out in the one day.

Yes, completely agree with you, but I saw such fast changes, sometimes when the roll of my car was different, therefore typical a floating system. But, my main point: Ineos should continue to calculate an estimate, and perhaps make slower iterations.
Parked 1:8 downhill overnight my remaining range drops from 55 miles to - - - !!
Also anyone any ideas why the remaining range when full peaks at around “>260 miles”. Can it not count any higher?? 🤔

Initially, I thought the sender was stuck, but we have experienced the same phenomena with the indicator showing FULL, but now we know its in the design I can live with it.

@Jean Mercier ~ never mind the empty fuel tank, it looks like you have a hole in your battery:

I think they should have had a simple needle showing from F---to---E.
Think of the money they would have saved and how much easier it would have been to fit a Stack gauge

Less electronics, wasn't that the plan ?
I remember the trials and tribulations of trying to get a Stack gauge repaired...

Admit it, you've swapped the Moll batteries out for something lighter to try and improve your fuel economy:

That's Ineos pricing right there.

Parking or waiting on a slope really stuffs up the range and guage and it doesn't recover. My range often sits on >523km, parking on a slope takes 200km off that. Ineos is aware of this.i had an issue, mine wouldn't start, tank showing 50% range had just gone to "---", put 20l fuel in started fine, went to servo filled up, turns out had about 15l in the tank when it wouldn't start

This would be a disaster in mid-QLD where some fuel stops are 400+ kms away.. imagine thinking you had 500kms range and really you have 200!!! I for one 'al;ways' fill up at townships on my travels as I have come close to being stranded several times in my life and the thought isnt fun.

Keen for an update when you get back.
I rated it one of the worse corrugated tracks in Oz when we did it in ‘13, but I’ve seen videos over the last few years indicating it’s nowhere near as bad now.
We’re considering doing it again next year or the year after and doing most of the side trips we didn’t manage to do last time.

Yes, from all reports it's no where near what it used to be.
