My best actual has been about 17 MPG. For planning purposes I use 15 MPG.
i did an exhaustive break in procedure which is still in process, driving from my delivery dealership in Portland to Northern California, normally a 580 mile, 9 hour drive over 16 hours and 800 miles.

My Grenadier seems to thrive, fuel economy wise, at 56 mph (90 kph) not perhaps surprisingly right at where max torque occurs at 1750 rpm. For many, that would be mind bendingly slow, for me it is perfect as it is the most often posted maximum speed in Baja and any good reason not to speed is a good reason.

We certainly see better economy when keeping the speed under 60 mph.

When I was a poor college kid, I’d draft semi’s in my Wrangler and get @26mpg 😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Normally it’d be @16-17mpg IIRC.

i got 21-22 in my 1998 XJ with a 4L HO and a 5 speed. I avoided trucks driving from Portland to California but sooner or later I will be drafting trucks going South.

Just finished a trip through the Colorado Mountains. Tried to keep speed under 65 mph, Truck now has first oil change done and 6,000 miles on the ODO, running on 255/80/17 GY Duratrac RT. ended up hand calculated at 18.9 mpg.
The truck was loaded with camping gear for two, the roof rack has a big 270 Bush Company awning, solar panel, Large 10x10 canvas tent and steel poles (weighing 70lbs) 4 MAXTraX Extreme, and 5 gal propane tank.
I wonder how much better it might get at 60 mph?
I really can't complain if it gets between 15-19 mpg
