Americas The big May 17 Announcement / Pricing / Discussion thread.

Don’t most states require a brake controller for loads over 3-4,000? Not sure how IA could market a 7716 towing capacity if the vehicle cannot legally tow that as equipped.

The real point of comparison should be a comparable Defender. My trialmaster is coming in at 83ish.

Anyone know what's included in the tow hitch package? I need that but $800 seems steep. Also unclear whether it includes a brake controller.
The "tow Package" is standard on the Trialmaster but does not include the brake controller

My build costs $89,255 (excluding taxes & fees). That’s a base with all the factory-only options plus rubber floor mats. Ouch. At that price point, the rock sliders and roof rack will have to wait. Also, my wife may kill me.

I've got mine down to 87,280. I'm starting to understand why they gave us two weeks before placing final order.

I also saw that and figured it out - you can't select the auxiliary battery plus the premium sound system. My guess is the amp or subwoofer gets placed where the second battery would go. So, since the Trialmaster comes with the auxiliary battery - it does not have the premium sound system as an option.
Exactly my thoughts. The subwoofer add can be done elsewhere in the truck (I think a perfect spot is over the right side rear wheel arch) but the description also says "uprated amplifier." If I could have a TM and swap the aux for the audio I would (I think I'll get more use/enjoyment from the upgraded audio and could always buy something like this: KICKASS in place of the factory aux battery). It's not apples and apples, but could be a good compromise.

It’s almost like every story in the beginning was wadded up and thrown in the trash. What was supposed to be a $58-65k is starting at $80 and going to be $100 by the time the options, taxes, fees, etc are all on it. I guess I’m priced out at this point after years of waiting :-(
Not cheap in USD that's for sure...

Yes a bit of a shock when my over-optioned saved configurations all popped up at $92-95k. Yikes! Now deselecting multiple options.

There are new configuration restrictions that I wasn't expecting, which is leading me to build a base (steels, no RAI, Aux battery) though I would think a Trial or Field trim would be more desirable if I ever decide to sell.

There is now an upgraded audio system with subwoofer, it is standard on Fieldmaster and optional on others, but not compatible with the auxiliary battery (same location I assume). This means no Aux battery on Fieldmaster. 😔

Also only 18 in alloys available on Fieldmaster.

I'm glad they are giving the reservation holders a month to get their orders submitted. Maybe by then I'll become desensitized to the pricing!
Honestly, pricing is higher than hoped for but about what I had anticipated. There are so many unanswered questions that make this a tough call.
I'm currently on my 4th 4Runner and have accumulated over 500k miles between them. I've not had any issues with any of them. Going to be difficult to leave that reliability and pay nearly double to do so! I do really like the Grenadier though....

The 2024 Taco announcement is Friday so that will be interesting. I'd imagine a new 4Runner will be on its heels and with similar capabilities/features/etc.

I might be out as well. I was hoping interest rates will drop by time it's my turn to take delivery, But I have a feeling more people will also drop out, which might only give me till the end of this year to come up with a larger down payment.

I was hoping the next Gen 4runner would be out by now, or at least we would have a better idea when. At least on Friday we see where it is going with the release of the next Gen Tacoma.

Also would be curious, based on the pricing how many people are or considering canceling their reservation. Someone smarter than me could probably create a survey.

$90k-$96k for base model spec'd out to my preference vs field master spec'd out.

More than I was hoping. My Lx600 is in the price range, dedicated and long standing reputation of reliability with Lexus product.

That is definitely a lot of money for an unproven product. Have a built Tacoma that this will replace that is worth about $50k. Having to ponder if the extra 40-50 grand is worth it.

Tundra two years ago...Sequoia last year...Taco this year...all signs and what media I've seen point to a 4R next year. I'll, likely, have already moved into an LC200 by then, so maybe a next-gen 4R will be our next, NEXT project as I'm not waiting that long.

One thing that also explains the high price is the terrible fuel economy. At 14 and 15mpg, I suspect it is being hit with a gas guzzler tax, which I think is baked into the price. From this chart, looks like it is around $5000USD.
That alone might have me walk away. My F250 diesel can hit 20mpg in highway driving.

Thats exactly what happens - then you start to look at how reasonable the price on the winch is - then you add the winch, etc, etc,etc
That’s why I bailed today. I’m too good at convincing myself it’s cool enough, so I’ve had to learn to listen to my gut. It’s @10% higher than the same spec’d Aus vehicle. I do feel like the pricing was set looking at the 2022 state of the market and not at where we’re headed. Of course, there will be plenty of people to buy them, so good for Ineos. I, personally, do not need the truck for $90k.
