Americas The big May 17 Announcement / Pricing / Discussion thread.

It’s almost like every story in the beginning was wadded up and thrown in the trash. What was supposed to be a $58-65k is starting at $80 and going to be $100 by the time the options, taxes, fees, etc are all on it. I guess I’m priced out at this point after years of waiting :-(

Just did my build this morning, 83k. Honestly it's around where I expected, not what I like but 60k range would have been more comfortable. That being said it is on par price wise with a speced out vehicle from LR, Ford Bronco, Jeep, etc.
Yep, I just priced out a Trialmaster with what I deemed to be the minimum "essential" add-ons and it comes to $82,795. My minimum "essentials" are: heat reflective privacy glass, locking spare wheel storage box, saddle leather driver's pack, rubber floor mats, checker plates, class III tow hitch/electrics, and cross bars.

I would have liked to have been able to add the winch and rock sliders, but just do not believe the offerings are worth an additional $5,150. I'll look into after-market options later. I am also interested in a bull bar, and guess I will just wait to see what ARB comes up with for an aftermarket front bumper/bull bar/winch housing combo.

I was expecting a $75k Trialmaster base offering. So, while the increase to $79,190 is disappointing, it's not altogether unexpected these days. If I can get the vehicle as configured for $82,795 with no dealer mark-up then I think I could stomach that.

Early adopters / hand raisers really did get a great deal on price. In terms of pre price lift.. That said, Grenadier demand is high,so residual values should follow which means relative holding costs won’t change. If the UK after market is to be believed, they are re selling for well over list price. Adding in the exclusivity element, they still look like great value stateside v me too alternatives.
With the mess politicians are making on inflation, on both sides of the pond, new prices will only go one way, meaning that getting in early could be a no regrets move.

I get it but, remember inflation has been roaring around the world for the past 12 months, IA is not immune.

Was expecting to see $78K as spec'd vs the actual $84K (TrialMaster with select options), All in all pretty close but I'll be honest it's still frustrating as I have already adjusted expectations higher several times.

I'll most like consider removing the option of front tow bar mount as I've read it can not support the operational load of the removable winch.

14mpg across is the board is worse than expected for the tuned B58. Surprised to see such a significant discrepancy between US and UK MPG ratings, I hope it won't be that bad because that is a serious range limiter for touring prior to aftermarket options.

$92k Canadian base, $102k for the Belstaff editions. That’s a lot more than I had hoped, and a bit higher than expected.

For context the Jeep gladiator diesel would run me about $10k to $25k less than the above kitted the way I want it, and that’s the closest practical competitor in terms of size, payload, and capability. I still prefer the shape and utility of the wagon - and the Jeep wagon struggles on payload which is why I’m using the Gladiator as a comparison - but it does mean that at least from a value for money perspective, the answer isn’t obviously Ineos — I still think it’s the better vehicle so overall it’s still likely the best choice for my use case, but…well, I have to engage in a lot more vigourous mental gymnastics to justify it to myself at that price.

However with inflation I will say that a $102k Grenadier is the best deal a person is likely to ever get on a new one. They will not likely get cheaper in the years to come!

Depends how many years you have been waiting..
if from 2019 US inflation has cumulatively been 14.47% so a $60k vehicle should now be $68,640..

I get it - I'm pretty maxed out. I am actually playing with the base and seeing if I can spec one with a lower price than a Belstaff.

One sliver of help (I'm hoping) is that IA or its financing partner offer lower interest financing options. That could help with the bottom line as I am in no place to make a cash purchase.

I canceled my reservation today. For me, there was no good argument for the vehicle anymore other than “it’s really cool”. Price is too high, interest rates are too high, gas price is too high, mpg is too low (although that seems wrong, given what others are reporting), it’s a first model year, there are too many reported issues (which I’m sure will be fixed), Ineos communications as a company are wanting.

Rather than spending the next 6+ months trying to convince myself the Grenadier is the right decision, I just going to hard pass. I don’t need a new car, and I’ll wait to spend $90k when the above conditions are more in my favor.

The real point of comparison should be a comparable Defender. My trialmaster is coming in at 83ish.

Anyone know what's included in the tow hitch package? I need that but $800 seems steep. Also unclear whether it includes a brake controller.

It appears the Premium Sound isn't available in the Trailmaster. It shows as standard in the Fieldmaster and is an option on a base model.

Am I missing something?

I also saw that and figured it out - you can't select the auxiliary battery plus the premium sound system. My guess is the amp or subwoofer gets placed where the second battery would go. So, since the Trialmaster comes with the auxiliary battery - it does not have the premium sound system as an option.

Nicely done. That completely makes sense. Thanks.

I'd guess no on the brake controller (they would have made that very clear). I'm assuming the hitch/bar and wiring, nothing more.

But, for comparison:

Jeep (as configured on GC): $695

Wrangler: $1,195

Bronco: $595

New Defender 110: $1,850

It seems that most Toyotas come with towing setup, but on the base-base Tundra it's $550 for the bar and electrics.

My build costs $89,255 (excluding taxes & fees). That’s a base with all the factory-only options plus rubber floor mats. Ouch. At that price point, the rock sliders and roof rack will have to wait. Also, my wife may kill me.
We can have a group funeral as most of our spouses are sharpening their knives.
