Because they are not. The vehicle was marketed, and sold as used serviceable. The most common and basic service is oil changes. That’s just common sense. They keep not answering a question. The “do it at the dealer” isn’t an answer.
I can't agree. Do it at the dealer is the answer currently. I do agree it is not what we want.

I don't know if this should be a separate thread but does anyone know the current state of the "Right to Repair" statutes in the various states. These are getting pushed by interest groups representing independent repair facilities for access to factory manuals, programs and data. The argument is, you as the consumer have the right to get your vehicle repaired anywhere but you can't do that if the factory won't share the data with the independent repair shops. We just need one state to enact legislation to pry the service manual out of Ineos' hands. I think Maine may have passed something like this.
I was hoping that "Right to Repair" would extend to me as the consumer, but it does not; even at its most permissive it only requires the manufacturer to release data to independent shops.

Well we will have to agree to disagree, in canada there are two dealerships. You can not expect people to cover 2000-3000-4000+ KM simply for an oil change. If you are ok with that, good for you. I think that the majority of owners would disagree.

I agree. If one wants to do their own servicing, consumer law allows it and warranties are preserved. And good on them! INEOS messaging has always supported the remote and DIY situation, unique among manufacturers’ messaging. So IMO, INEOS needs to follow through with a convenient service reminder reset ability. And shop manuals. Etc.

The answer is simple. The dealer tools are required to reset the service interval.

It may not be the answer we want to hear, but how much more transparent do you want them to be?
It's not an acceptable answer, period. We should continue to make noise until it is fixed. There is at least one datapoint that they take feedback into account with s/w updates (the pending speed limit fix).

This truck is so brilliant mechanically. All they had to do was implement a copy of a circa 2005-2015 Toyota dashboard / user interface and zero people would have complained.

I also strongly urge others to resist and ignore the policing of valid complaints on this forum. That's the politest way I can say that.

I messaged Autel and asked when they would have the software. They said they were working on it but no date yet.
I have Autel and message them for update few time since owning IG. we need other Autel owners, reach out and ask them to include IG in their scanner...
On the small plug note, Autel can pull all the error codes (and reset them) Just couldn't tell us what they meant (custom code...)

I'm 16 thousand plus days overdue🙄.... a glitch apparently with the latest (......1946) s/w update. No combination of button pushing succeeded. Apparently it requires a smiling tech with an Ineos secret laptop to remove the spell.
Maybe we need the ACC to ask ineos the question based on this

I wonder if that law could be introduced into the UK, but only applicable to politians that have been elected by the public 🤔

@trobex if I recall correctly you had your vehicle’s 15k service undertaken not at an Ineos dealer. What was your experience then with the service internal notification? thx

So this is likely more relevant to the S Texas group but I confirmed last week that Ken Batchelor Cadillac has been awarded the INEOS dealership in San Antonio. They are part of Sewell (Dallas) so not a big shock. I talked to the soon to be manager of the dealership and they expect service to commence in November along with Sales. Since they are under Sewell they will be able to sell out of the Dallas branch and do delivery in San Antonio. INOES made the decision to pick San Antonio over Austin to this will be the only dealer between the 2 cities for now.

As to the service reset - I explained the fact that I do my own service and just need a reset and the manager agreed to do the reset at no charge once they are up and operational.

This goes deeper than the service reminder reset, especially with the DIY/remote/austere environment marketing. While I travel with an assortment of scan tools and a set of adapters, a scan tool should not be needed to:
1. Reset service interval reminders
2. Reset brake system service alerts
3. Bleed the brake system
4. Bleed the cooling system
5. Change the battery

These things break when you're remote, and having a vehicle that refuses to start or move, or worse, risks severe damage because something can't be done, is the very opposite of the marketing and intent of the vehicle.

This is one of those "It's Jim's football, so he decides" problems - Ineos Automotive had the central software bespoked to glue disparate systems together. They got to choose, not you.

However it is not all bad, the bleeding of the coolant system does not need a software tool.

Jim's house, Jim's rules, I get it. Just when Jim says there is beer in the fridge, and I go in and find the fridge locked, the bathrooms locked unless I do a special dance just the right way, and no running water, he should not get cross when I leave again disappointed. And tell others.

It's either an open platform or it's not. Right to repair is a thing in some places, and all things automotive can be hacked. I happen to live in the US where there is this law called the DMCA that's used to bludgeon people who point out there are security problems (think car fob replay attacks, or decrypt DVDs) or reverse engineer things the manufacturer feels they don't want them to, so there are some other issues with the lack of support.

CAN and LIN bus systems aren't magic; they just need to annoy someone in a digitally free country enough to go in there and work it out.

I'm with you 100% @homeyclaus ... particularly on the DMCA nonsense. It's a fücked up world when it's illegal to freely communicate with the vehicles we supposedly "own". In a reasonable world, listening to and sending bits down a wire is free speech, even if it means decrypting a message that the original device maker doesn't want you to decrypt. Because now you own that lump of metal and glass and silicon.

EDIT: I'll add ... here's where Ineos Automotive's entry into the Chinese market will hopefully accelerate progress for owners and aftermarket mods. China reliably provides tools and hacks for owners to unlock their gear in lots of categories ... cars, video game console, amateur radios, etc. Gotta love it when an authoritarian dictatorship gives the Land Of The Free its freedoms back. 🤣

An enterprising British chap resident in Cyprus some 20+ yrs ago reversed engineered the then Land Rover systems and marketed his creation as "Black Box Solutions". I purchased one in 2006 for my then recently acquired second hand 1999 P38 4.6L Thor engined Range Rover. Software for all existing LR marques ( Freelander,Discovery and RR)was in the Black Box which connected from the OBD-2 via a RS232 port to one's laptop. One supplied said chap with one's VIN and received a code which unlocked the software for your specific vehicle. It "saved my bacon" several times. He also provided occasional updates free of charge. (He had varying licence arrangements for owners with multiple vehicles and a commercial option for independent garages). I wish he'd bought a Grenadier!!

My message to Autel on Oct 22, they have no plan to support Ineso :(
Not good news!
I might pay an engineer to build one then sell it. I think there would be a decent demand..
