I had such a good experience with Bison Gear, I just ordered the table for the rear door. Here in the deep south, it appears I can get gear from Poland via Fed Ex quicker than I can from the US west coast.

i got one of these mounts for my hi-lift: https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/pro...lifting-jack-holder-bracket-side-mount-_43101

I don't have the T-slot parallel to the side of the vehicle, but it looks like it could mount on the cross bar. The holes for the screws on the bracket are about 1mm to narrow but i think i can open up those holes slightly to make it fit.

I assume i have to use a sliding t-nut to mount the bracket to the roof rack? I can't use one of those hammerhead nuts (i assume its not big enough to spread the weight over the channel properly)?

or am i doing something i shouldn't be doing? eg. there is no way to fasten this bracket to the roof properly for the weights and the forces of a hi-lift on this mount?

The website uses a metal plate that slides into the channel, that would seem a lot stronger than T bolts.

Personally I would do the same.

You would have to partially dismantle the rack to get the plates in the channel though.

I have the top mount rhino rack , high lift jack mount on the pioneer platform and all hardware including fixings for the T slot came with it. However I’ve got an awning attachment to my pioneer platform where the fixings broke so I got flat metal bar cut to the right width and drilled holes in for the bolts (there is enough depth in the track) only downside is you need a pair of grips to grip the exposed bolt whilst doing the nut up tightly. Coach bolts although not ideal slide in those tracks nicely and have got me out of trouble as spares when other fixings have failed.

The Bison Gear baskets are installed. I think they were one of the best investments so far. The space has been useless before and the Chinese bag I bought on Aliexpress for the left side (mounted with to long strings for the strap down eylets and two stripes of adhesive tape…) tended to hang uninspired in its corner (because the adhesive tape didn’t hold it in place)
Now the bag is within the basket, everything is clean and tidy and I have (feeled) more space than before.IMG_1998.jpegIMG_1997.jpegIMG_2001.jpeg

Just looked at Bison side baskets and am confused about the left basket. Description says to make sure the plastic trim is flat. Flat vertically? Horizontally? I’m attaching the bison sample picture and a pic of my left area where the red arrows show the 2 areas that angle downward — is this what’s supposed to be flat?

I think I figured it out. The Amazon vendor shows this a little better. Is this what Bison means by flat?

Hi guys, really interested in the Bison roof rack, looks like a good bit of kit. We are a bit limited on 3/4 rack choice in the UK from what I’ve seen. The only other one I can see available is the front runner, but I like how this one uses the rails rather than the gutters, the only other rack I’ve seen that mounts similar is the Leitner in the US. How are folks getting on with the Bison rack and any idea how much extra I’m going to be paying for UK import Tax?

I agree that gutter racks scare me a lot. I have the BG rack. I like it a lot. Assembly was annoying because there are *so* many screws and it's not very clear which holes the roof mounts should go in, so I had to do some reassembly with it on my roof. Other than that, I think the beefiness of the thing is really fitting for the grenadier. I've also stood on the thing a bunch because my daughter loves going on it.

I really recommend getting ratcheting wrenches for assembly.

I have the bison roof rack. Really nice piece of kit.
Assemble it on a really flat surface. I used a level to make sure the connection between the two longitudinal arm are perfectly flat and aligned to each other longitudinally.

Use 3 or even better 4 people to get it on the roof for final install. Put a blanket on the roof to prevent scratches.

Use locktite blue for the front wind fairing.
You can tighten up the flat surfaces once the rack is on the roof before you put on the wind fairing using a long extension and a socket. Much easier IMHO.

Decide if you want to have the cross bars with holes in them up or down on the rack. I put mine downwards, in hindsight may not have been the best choice.

Finally, pay attention to what is front and what is back, fairing goes to the front. I my got that wrong and had to redo it. I know it sounds like a silly mistake but it's surprisingly easy mistake to make.

Had to get some documents notarized for the sale of a building. Called a mobile notary, she met me on site in about 15 minutes, gate table was 11/10.

I have had the Bison Rack installed for about 4 months. I am really happy with it and I purchased some extra insert panels to provide more fixing points. You can walk on it when fixing loads . Regarding the tax. It is shipped in more than one parcel due to the weight and FedEx have charged me twice for Duty and Vat on the total value. I have had to pay it so Bison need to ensure the parcels are linked correctly to one invoice to avoid this . Anyway it very good and has low wind noise to the point I have forgotten its on the car.

I paid the duty on the first parcel, then ignored the invoice for duty on the second parcel.
