Suspect bespoke colours, interior trim and mild performance upgrades to engines will be offered. Small upgrades at big prices…

If this Arcane thing results in ventilated seats it'll be worth it. That's the one feature missing that I really want and I'll fork out extra for that, provided off-road design isn't sacrificed as on the Belstaff SE with its fancy and unwanted wheels. I was going to order end of this month or beginning of next, so I'll probably wait for the reveal in July and see what it's all about.

Check out the recaro ergomed es seat. Fully electric, designed for sport and comfort, and it comes with a fully climate package, heat and cooling

Certainly something to keep in mind. I actually like the seats the IG has now, they felt great on the 1.5 hr test drive, I just wish they were ventilated.

If this posh Grenadier makes a good profit, that might keep the company afloat, which benefits us all.
The Ineos group make a profit of around 3 billion Euros annually (3,000,000,000€). Not sure we have to worry.

In the States dealers have 50 to 100 unsold on their lots. No incentives, no finance or lease options from Ineos, no factory marketing (traditional or digital) and some quality/software issues. That is not how to get a new automobile company going in the States. Because less than 20% US buyers do not use them off road they must be more country club friendly. I've had great luck with mine and would think a "posh" model would be great only if they handle the other problems first.

I must be psychic.
Back in March I posted this comment saying that I thought they would most likely introduce upmarket and specialist vehicles and here we go with Arcane.

That's the entire company. They jettison poorly performing businesses.
And (May '24)
It is ironic when you read how he made his fortune...buying jettisoned businesses from the multinationals...let's hope the goalposts don't move too much...pun intended sorry ;)

There are 3 men at the helm. But they are all hard nosed, and even if you're daddy and mummy are rich they'll boot you out of the house if you're not pulling your weight.

This whole exercise just goes to illustrate the significant disconnect between the home office and their largest market, here in the US.

I hope they get it sorted one day.

Their largest market is the rest of the world.
As many car makers have decided, the US market may be large, but not necessarily attractive, due to US tastes and preferences.
Jeeps have been a dismal failure outside of the North American market for a reason.
I think the only way they will have any significant turnover in the US is to start building dedicated North American models in either US, Canada or Mexico.

I agree and can easily see them selling the automotive division off to another vehicle manufacturer in the future.
Volkswagen?
Fiat?
BMW??
Maybe even JLR

But below the price of a Mercedes. Ineos won't tread on a benefactor's toes. I'm sure they got a great deal on the Hambach plant and I bet it came with some caveats.
Never forget Jim's "cut price G wagen" comment a few yeras ago.
He's sticking to a plan.

FWIW, the HVAC system in our Subaru kicks ass - my IG, not so much.
Ha. The A/C in my 10 year old, 150,000 mile Subaru knocks my Grenadier out of the water - but I kinda like all the fuss the Grenadier makes getting going, and it gets the basic job done. I enjoy not having multiple climate zones and the simplicity of blue vs red. I’m convinced the whirring at full fan will someday get addressed. It reminds me of those cheap battery powered hand-held fans you can buy at big events. For right now, I’m calling it ‘character’.

To be honest it was a pretty obvious direction for them to go.
Limited production capacity and a niche vehicle screams out for a specialist arm to maximise inhouse profits.
Mercedes G Wagen has shown that there are plenty of people willing to pay high prices for mall crawlers.
AMG G63 G Wagen in Australia is close to half a million on the road.
That's USD$284,876 or Euro261,520
I can see them putting the S58 drivetrain in one or even the 460 KW 760NM B57 from the BMW M series.
