OK, right, I got it!But the issue with the winch/steel bumper/roo bar is that the weight is in front of the front axle.
Well stop thatI was just avving a laff

Just sitting here with everything crossed hoping i can order the australian bumper and swap it over . Hopefully the length of unsupported line due to the depth of the winch position does not place a lot of force on the fairlead .Hi Guys, first post here to try and answer some questions. I work for RED Winches and I have been involved with the winch installation from the very beginning and involved with all the integration testing so hopefully I can answer any questions you may have.
Yes the front crossmember is very different for the ECE models and ROW. Yes it is possible to swap them over and I am told that the parts will be available wherever you are.
Fitting a integrated winch into a modern vehicle and passing safety tests and homologation has been challenging and the engineers at INEOS have worked hard to make this happen.
Yes on the ECE model the winch is set back due to pedestrian safety rules, nothing can be done about this and new Defender is exactly the same but you can still winch up to 45° in any orientation if you need to. If your angle is greater then more complex rigging will be needed to divert the winch line.
Hope this helps. Hit me up if you have any specific questions.
From the photos I've seen the fairlead is attached directly to the front face of the winch, it almost couldn't be closer.Hopefully the length of unsupported line due to the depth of the winch position does not place a lot of force on the fairlead .

Great question!Hi Brooker78,
Thanks for joining the forum, and for posting here. Most of us here in the U.S. have never heard of Red Winch, so its good to see some company presence on the forum, and a willingness to engage with the public.
The winch being offered with the Grenadier is rated at 5.5 tonnes, so its what we Yanks would call a 12,000 pound winch.
I've got two questions:
(1) What diameter rope comes with the winch that is being offered with the Grenadier?
(2) Does Red Winch provide a breaking strength for the rope? Surprisingly, not all winch manufacturers do, and in the past I've had to upgrade the rope. For a 12,000 pound winch, I would expect the rope to have around 24,000 pounds breaking strength (for safe use with a snatch block).
Thanks in advance.
Doesn't matter if it's a ECE or ROW model, both have the winch mounted behind the CMS with the Fairlead mounted on the front side.Just sitting here with everything crossed hoping i can order the australian bumper and swap it over . Thanks for your prompt reply, and for providing such a stout rope!Great question!
We also believe a rope should have twice the breaking strain of the Winches max pulling capacity.
Integrated winch rope is our 11mm Diameter UHMWPE; rating: 11mm MBS – 11,702kg (25,800Lbs)

Service will probably be through the INEOS dealer network. Thanks for your prompt reply, and for providing such a stout rope!
I've been a Warn guy for 35 years - but I've heard lots of good things about Red Winch.
Is there a way to have a Red Winch serviced in the U.S. ?
