Yep, I just priced out a Trialmaster with what I deemed to be the minimum "essential" add-ons and it comes to $82,795. My minimum "essentials" are: heat reflective privacy glass, locking spare wheel storage box, saddle leather driver's pack, rubber floor mats, checker plates, class III tow hitch/electrics, and cross bars.
I would have liked to have been able to add the winch and rock sliders, but just do not believe the offerings are worth an additional $5,150. I'll look into after-market options later. I am also interested in a bull bar, and guess I will just wait to see what ARB comes up with for an aftermarket front bumper/bull bar/winch housing combo.
I was expecting a $75k Trialmaster base offering. So, while the increase to $79,190 is disappointing, it's not altogether unexpected these days. If I can get the vehicle as configured for $82,795 with no dealer mark-up then I think I could stomach that.
$525 for privacy glass; you can get ceramic window tint to your desired darkness, on the entire rig(including front windows), for ~$100 less than that.
$1065 for rock sliders installed is a deal IMHO.
Dealer markup's will be interesting. No consumer protection on that.
There is a note to the final price "† The price shown is the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and does not include the cost of installation and local sale taxes. The purchase and installation of Accessories must be agreed upon directly with an INEOS dealer."
The part that concerns me is "does not include the cost of installation". I believe I have seen/read where some people have received their IG without some ordered accessories because they weren't available at the time or not factory installed. Does this mean I will have to pay more money if I happen to order an accessory that wasn't available at the factory? Also, does anyone see a delivery charge anywhere or is that already included?
Accessories with an * is "The selected feature is a removable accessory that will be supplied and installed by an INEOS dealer". This includes rock sliders, checker plate, etc.
So look at what you check, the price could be going up further.
Hmm, so options like the F&R diff locks and snorkel; they have no * next to them, but rock sliders too. Surely a dealership won't be installing F&R diff locks, maybe a snorkel. So this detail (very helpful info) is very confusing on the configurator.
Great I'll be 500 miles from the nearest, I'm in the middle of the US.
IA states on their site that they want a service facility within an hour of every IG customer. Looking at the USA map, they have a looooooooong ways to go.
Early adopters / hand raisers really did get a great deal on price. In terms of pre price lift.. That said, Grenadier demand is high,so residual values should follow which means relative holding costs won’t change. If the UK after market is to be believed, they are re selling for well over list price. Adding in the exclusivity element, they still look like great value stateside v me too alternatives.
With the mess politicians are making on inflation, on both sides of the pond, new prices will only go one way, meaning that getting in early could be a no regrets move.
How did early adopters get a great deal on price? Reservations started 9/2021, yet pricing(which undoubtedly increased without us ever knowing by how much) was just released 5/17/2023.
I’d be interested to see your math on that.
Lockers? Yup I can add them after. Front and rear ARBs will run about $3k here before installation - assuming they will be offered, with no time horizon on that. Getting them from Ineos is a $3500. To add them later is letting nickles get in the way of dollars.
Winch? Already did the math on that above. I can do without and add later, but it’s a few hundred bucks of savings if I don’t include the time I’d invest doing the work and figuring out which bits and pieces I want on there.
I’ve already conceded on the saddle leather and sound system. That’s $2k savings.
Some things I cannot add later in reasonable ways, like safari windows.
So assuming I trim all of those “optional” things off, and even ignoring the cost of adding them later, I might be generously saving $10k on my purchase price. Heck, let’s be generous and literally double that estimate to $20k less than I’ve configured it, that puts me at around $93k.
That’s spitting distance of a New Defender, which is still cheaper - and which comes with all the stuff I just got rid of on my Gren - and it’s STILL $10k more than a cream-of-the-crop Jeep.
That’s nuts.
Craig, I would HIGHLY suggest reconsidering F&R lockers. From IA is $2250 installed. These are Eaton e-lockers; ok, maybe not as ultimate as ARB air, but remember to add in at least $750 for an air compressor (then where are you going to mount/store it?). Then add wiring to OEM switches. And this is only possible IF ARB comes out with air lockers for rare Carraro axles. I'm not risky lockers afterwards; configuring them now.
you have plenty of stuff you can get rid of and add at a later date.....saddle package? premium sound? axe the winch..+ get rid of those soon to be leaky safari windows as well
Agreed. I'm going with base vinyl/cloth Recaro's and front seat covers; Leather is nice but it'll get quite dirty where I'm going, so I easily save $2k this way.
Winch is $4k installed; an aftermarket winch is $1900 + ~$500 installed, so a savings of $1600 afterwards.
That range, frankly, is garbage for a vehicle produced today. Now factor in around HALF (or worse) the fuel efficiency when bouncing around off road. That's the thing I absolutely hate about my '21 RAM...a 31 gal joke of a tank at 12 mpg on pavement (camper, 37s, etc.). And the EPA here making it extremely painful to add aux gasoline tanks.
Yep, my big camping rig getting ~8mpg mixes, on 37s. I do have an aftermarket 60gal fuel tank though; EPA has no involvement with that. Again, I think there's a possibility to get a 52gal midship tank into your RAM, but you'd have to come to the west coast for install.
Wondering if Grenadier is going to hold its value based on Classic Defender and G-Wagon. $90k-95k is in a F150 Raptor window,
Also, if you are getting the "Premium Sound", you cannot get the AUX Battery.
Yeah, the latter is sad; sub must go under the LR seat.
Unfortunately the IA site needs a warning (like RAM/Ford sites) where when you add another option and that addition would delete a pre-clicked option, the site says "Premium Sound removes Aux Battery. Confirm?" Silly this is not the case, and I bet many aren't seeing their previously clicked options vanishing.
PS--are you the Bend Oregon JATT?
A Jeep Gladiator Rubicon - pretty much stock - completed the Canning Stock route in Australia. The driver gave the Gladiator rave reviews. If you need additional payload (practical not legal), you can upgrade springs and shocks - and there are many, many good options to choose from. Solid axles front & rear, fully boxed frame, lockers front and rear, disconnecting front anti-sway bar, 33-inch tires (your choice of either BFG KO2 or some MT options), manual transfer case, manual transmission if you want it, a diesel-option if you want it, lots of good options for a light-weight wedge camper and other after-market stuff. And, Gladiators are selling at discount right now - you can get a new Rubicon for under $60,000 U.S.
In addition, you can swap to 35-inch tires if you choose, without needing to lift the suspension - its ready to go. There is an abundance of aftermarket gears should you wish to re-gear the truck after moving up in tire-size.

Payload in Jeep's is still pretty poor.
Instead, get a slightly used G-Wagen or LC200.
Pricing was higher than I expected - my build turned out to be $93K. Their accessory prices are very high - a $950 Rino rack for $2K, Light bar for $1.3K etc - debating about the front trailer plate and rear hitch almost $2k for both - also feels very high. If anyone has thoughts on the front/rear tow options would be great. Assume they could both be added after market. I think the MPG is still a work in progress. The site does not show a difference between city/highway - so maybe EPA has not happened.
FrontRunner rack is ~$1900 not installed.
Unsure which mfr the light bar is front, or the size, but Baja/Rigid are going to be $1500 easy.
My build came in at $86k and change. I had to be very diligent with the options; what makes sense now for ROI, vs aftermarket later.
