Let's get some perspective: Is your Grenadier AC working as it should?

Who else's AC is batsh1t crazy and randomly blows hot air one day and cold the next on the exact same setting? I don't think the AC system got the attention it deserved during the 1.2 million miles of road testing, that's for sure. I love my new truck but it's the one thing that drives me nuts on pretty much a daily basis as I fiddle away at the controls and I'm surprised Ineos haven't found a fix for it yet. I gather it's down to sticky solenoid valves or such like and is probably an expensive warranty concern for them.

It would be useful to set up a poll on this forum and get an idea of what percentage and numbers of owners here have flaky AC. This forum must represent a decent amount of the Grenadier owner population, perhaps it would help sharpen Ineos' perspective on the issue if it popped up on every Google search relating to Grenadier AC issues. I don't have the ability to raise a forum poll but maybe @Stu_Barnes would consider it a worthy exercise

I have the same problem with the AC in manual mode with the same temp setting it can change from hot air to cold air without any changing of settings ,it seems that the AC system works like a 2 position switch hot air or cold air without any temperature control.
There is also some water dripping under the plastic from the central console (driver side LH drive), luckily i have rubber floor mats and the amount of water is rather small so it evaporates quickly.
Dealer knows about the problem but is waiting from info from Ineos.
Please keep us posted

my AC has worked fine (4K miles on the odometer) until today and i noticed a loud sound when the fan is on. it's not in the interior vents front or rear but when i got out of the truck it sounds like it's coming from the right front side. I hope it's not the AC pump.
Anyone else experience this?

So far so good but the Grenadier interior is huge. It takes a while to cool it down versus s single cab pickup.

Mine has a high pitched buzz or whistle sound that starts after the fan is on high for awhile. If I turn back down for a second it immediately goes away, then I turn it back up to high and eventually the buzz starts again.

It’s normal. They all do it. The high frequency pitch on fan speed 4. I’ve had the heater fan changed and it’s still the same.

I hadn't noticed that before. Maybe because I don't run the fan at the highest level. But I will try it out.

Once I stopped using Auto my HVAC system mostly works fine, the AC function is good but my issue is the heating function. On cold days it can take up to ten minutes for warm air to start flowing, and just before it starts I hear what sounds like water cascading behind the centre console. To me it seems like the thermostat is stuck, then when it finally opens I can hear the coolant flowing through the heating element.
Mine works exceptionly well blows cold air on cold days and hot air on hot days . I have given up ,I keep a coat for cold days and open the windows on hot days , if it was a 4 seater I would have a struggle rug on the back seat as well , just like a 1960's holden

I tried using Auto this weekend. While I like the idea, the application is not as I want. For example, I don’t like Auto choosing the vent distribution - I like to choose that. So when I choose the center/dash vents the rear are also selected. And when I want slow, regulated heat I choose the floor vents. Other that that is seems to work well.

Mine is working great, most time I have to dial it back, now Fall has arrived these day I to use heat in the morning 45 F/7.2 C and AC in the afternoon 85 F/29.4 C. It was very good this summer when we closer to 95F/35C in July. Now we do not have as many day where humidity is high, it mostly dry here.

I wish I could get my heat as hot as the AC blows. The AC works sometimes but then switches to very hot with no provocation. Heat works great on the windshield but when the dial is moved to any other position the temp drops to cool. The dealer said they hadn't heard of any of these issues but perhaps they don't read the forum. Still love the vehicle but I live where it gets -40 so heat is somewhat of a necessity.

The issues are beyond just what is noted on the forum, especially with the "random heat" issue; if the dealer hasn't seen it themselves, just one phone call or email to their regional Ineos technical rep will get them all the info they need to be up to speed

Ive been into the dealer 3 times for the heat and AC issue and each time they couldn't replicate it. I was told unless they see it for themselves they will not fix it even if they have a known fix. I have emailed Ineos customer service about it and have heard crickets back. I love the truck but this HVAC issue is beyond frustrating. My buddy is getting his heater box replaced by the same dealer I go to but I think he made a little more of a stink about it. Not sure if the heater box is the definitive fix but I feel like I'm willing to try anything at this point.

If you aren't getting anywhere with your dealer I would strongly suggest making the drive to another dealer and seeing if the experience is better

Others have posted the heater box replacement, even sensor replacement didn’t fix anything. I don’t want to bi7ch and schedule work that means nothing.

I heard the same about the heater box, not interested until they know exactly what's going on. It seems with such a global issue that Ineos knows what it is but its going to be an extremely costly fix

I had my heater fan box changed. No difference. Pretty sure it’s software. Like many people have said when turning car on leave on the ignition (half turn) position until all the dash light come on and then full turn to start the car.

Mine is 3300km old now and can be a little kooky sometimes...
But I did notice something the other day that might have some bearing on the matter...
Went to work the other day.. and it was around 20 degrees... few hours later went out... temp was about 32 degrees...
The car took about 30 mins to update the outside temp...
Now if this is how long the software is taking to set the AC for the cabin, this could be why it acts strange... and doesnt act up when they test it at the dealers..
Just a thought.....

No problems. A/C works great. The heater is fantastic. Combined with the heated seats, you aren’t getting cold in this tractor.

I agree, outside temp reading is very slow to update on mine as well.
