I didn’t click, but a video I watched mentioned the disconnecting sway bar AND independent front suspension.

I actually like look of it and have a soft spot for LC’s. If I didn’t have an IG I would be following the progress of this one.

As SPJNR says, I think it will be an expensive vehicle if it hits the UK shores.

Sad what has happened the Land Cruiser line. It used to be a solidly-built, 25-year Toyota-mandated design. Then the Sequoia (for the US market) was degraded to a 10-year design. Today we get a Insta-Overlander straight out of the Toyota-Marketing playbook.

Disconnecting sway bar is still possible with IFS, the Bronco badlands model has it. Enables more suspension droop, but the broncos seem to pop steering arms and CVs pretty well too maybe due to the angles this set up produces

I could have sworn that they mentioned a disconnect for the front sway bar? I assume that means a solid axle?

I still don’t get the positioning on this. I guess you have the models you have so they brought this here because we were all Wailing about the LC leaving. The LExus GX version would have madd more sense, I think, but I guess they didn’t want to rebrand it again.

But if the base model here is $55k, a stripper 4Runner 2023 is $40-$45. I guess a TRD PRO is about $55k, which is where these start, but I’d think that the 4Runner is going up in price, unless they are going to decontent it a bit to keep the price lower.
Given the jump in pricing that accompanied the Tundra/Sequoia updates 2 years ago brought, I would imagine the new 4Runner will start around $45k with a TRD Pro (if they still do one) coming in around $60k (Currently is around $53k)

Also, their comment of "mid-50s" as a starting price for the LC I interpret as around $56-57k for a no options 1958 trim; going up to the upper 60s (or into the 70s) for the Global First Edition.

It has basically just added yet another SUV in Toyotas line up, and awkwardly split the 4Runner away from it's GX "twin"; although the GX550 is closer to a LC300... Which is what a LX is.....

Definitely. I own a 2014 LC200. Will drive it until it dies.

Ditto - I own a 2000 and 2004 that two of my kids drive. Regular maintenance and all that, but both still run like a top and my kids love them.

I think you can say I’m a “Land Cruiser guy”: My daily is a ‘97 80-series (no axle lockers) with 300k miles and I’m getting ready to take it on a 1500-mi road trip to Canada, that’s how confident I am in the platform. My wife’s daily is an ‘03 100-series with 232k miles. And I just bought a ‘97 80-series Collector’s Edition with axle lockers and 260k mi.

While this 2024 re-do of the LC isn’t as rugged looking as the classics, has an IFS, a complex hybrid system and more bells and whistles standard than I really care for, if I could get into a well optioned one for under $70k and get 25 mpg from a proven brand like Toyota…that is very tempting.

I don't know... Toyota builds reliable trucks and this thing may spec out $15k less than a comparable IG. I'm still waiting on an email I was supposed to get last month confirming when it will be built... Add to this that there's "cheap plastic" issues and all-new teething problems with the IG that I'd expect Toyota to manage better. I'm going to get in line for the new LC (I especially like the dimensions that are close to my old 80 series). If Toyota makes quicker progress, I'll step out of the Ineos line.
LC300 seems good so far. I know two owners and they have both excellent satisfaction with the LC300 so far. Both in GXL spec. Big expensive though for what it is.

4" longer, 2" wider, and... checks notes... 114 more hp & 190 lb-ft torque. Hmm, think I'll take a look before I say "hell no" to 4 cylinders. I mean, Japanese manufacturers have produced some pretty fine 4 cylinder motors.
Dimensions much the same size as the 100 series Land Cruiser with it’s, ahem, magnificent V8 engine. Of course this new 250 series “Prada” Land Cruiser weighs less but that is to be expected when you cut your engine in half.
Yes, engine HP and torque is higher too but, my guess, is it will not be a 25 year engine (like the 100 series) as it is likely to be driven by trophy wives and soccer moms on those tough urban trails.

Plus 3" shorter wheelbase (than IG).

Maybe not what SHOULD be done though…. The thermal energy flow on that has to be epic…
