Hey everyone!

Rhett here, my wife and I just purchased a new 2024 Trialmaster from our local dealer (Regal Ineos, Roswell GA) this week and couldn't be more excited. I've been daily driving an FJ cruiser since new (2008) and have put just shy of 300,000 miles on that Toyota. The last few years we've been traveling cross country 4-6 times a year towing a small(ish) travel trailer with the FJ and it really struggled, I love that truck but its shortcomings as a long distance tow vehicle become more apparent the more we traveled so we started looking at replacement options 2 years ago. With the tariffs coming down, and the incentives Ineos USA were offering we decided to rip the bandaid off and go with the Grenadier, as its basically the only vehicle on the market that ticked all of our boxes.

Our first trip is coming up in about 4 weeks, we're planning on a little over a month of travel with the trailer and our (gravel) bikes, which will take us from Atlanta GA to Minnesota, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and potentially Utah, to two different gravel races and lots of friends in between.

Im searching out some of the "must do" mods right now, as we've had our Grenadier for just 3 days at this point. I've been a long time member of the FJ Cruiser forums and learned a ton of valuable info there over the years and Im excited to be here as we start our Grenadier journey. Any input from you more experienced owners is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Your trip sounds like a blast... Although, I have to ask, what's in OK and KS? :P Full disclosure, my better half is from OK and we got back fairly regularly

Its a fair question! We're pretty active in the cycling world, Gravel mostly and there are a few races/events that take place in KS and OK. We've become close friends with some of the people who've started and run these races so we always make a hang with them when we're out that way.

The "super bowl" of gravel racing is a race called Unbound which happens in Emporia KS in June, thousands of riders from all over the world, Including lots of elite pros come to race the 200 mile, 100 mile and 350 XL races. My wife is a pro photographer who gets hired by teams and brands to shoot the pro races, and the Grenadier is going to be her "work truck" if you will. Basically she chases the race over hundreds of miles to capture what she needs for her clients, its a ton of fun but really stressful.

Ill be riding the 100 mile race while shes out working, should be a good time!

Only relation I have to the bicycling world is that I sold my Tundra to a couple who were travel RNs and MTBers who only picked up contracts to follow the MTB seasons/spots and were in Bentonville when they flew out to buy the truck from us :P

I'm sorry, "Rhett" from Atlanta? Really? Well fiddle-dee-dee. 😉

I also moved from an FJ Cruiser (2014) to my Grenadier. I think you're gonna be happy! Welcome!

The FJ Cruiser is a great rig but not the best for towing. A close friend has nearly 200,000 miles on his and still drives it as his daily. He previously used it for towing but now uses a Land Cruiser 200 when pulling his camper trailer. The 200 tows with ease as will your new Grenadier.

Welcome! We loved our FJ Cruiser!

Yes! I stumbled across this post on another thread yesterday and saved it. Thank you so much for putting this together!

Welcome Rhett! Where are you headed to in Colorado? Great community of Grenny's here if you want to do a couple of trails!
Not quite sure yet, my best friend from growing up lives in Durango with his partner and we try to get out there at least once a year, so I think we'll head that way.

Welcome to the club! I have enjoyed the heck out of my Grenadier for a year. The trip sounds great as does the gravel rides. My wife and i have been looking to transition from road and mtb over to gravel completely. Seems like the happy middle ground.
