Grenadier Servicing Price Australia

While it disappoints me to say it: I can't help feeling that the greed virus has infected some dealers ...
If there are no software updates, Tech Service Bulletins or recalls outstanding, and you can change your own oil and filters, then that fulfills the 'marketing promise' of being able to do one's own servicing....

Yep, I’m booked in next month, and can feel the pain in the wallet already.
The 300 Series apparently has capped services of $375 every 6mths/10,000km.
Compare that to 12mths/15,000km at a bit under $1300. You can’t help but feel like you’re being buggered.

So, servicing for some of your poor folk is heading towards 3% pa or purchase price... OUCH.

I was advised the second service would be cheaper by my dealer. As the first one requires diff oil that isnt done again until 80 or 100k or something.

If they are jacking the price up again for the second service, I feel maybe there should be concerted email effort from owners to Ineos to raise this. Some owner pressure could have some effect on this. Given that there was talk at the start of servicing price agreements/options/plans that were to be "worked out" as the intial release and deliveries settled.

Might also be time for a concerted push on the parts/service manual that was promised as a term of sale

After paying $1200 something 3 months ago for the 15,000km service, I was also advised that the second (30,000km) service would be cheaper since they won't be doing the diff oils... Ended up paying more. Will need to try a Bosch Service Centre or at least call for a quote.

Correct, material alone is about $170 less... roughly on retail rates... being charged more for the same 2-hour service (max) is horse shit.

Well... I just had my 30,000km service in Canberra at 4x4 Garage for $1307.10 AUD

Labour $778.87
Oil Filter $ 38.01
Water Separator Filter $ 70.04
Air Filter $ 90.73
Brake Fluid 1L $ 43.00
Engine Oil (Liqui Moly TT6100 0W30) 7.5L $ 167.63
Wow!

It's 2 hours work at most, labour should be under $300.

Consumable prices aren't too bad, aside from the oil, you could get 10L of that for under $100 at a retail store (Autobarn/Repco/Supercheap etc.) if you shopped around for sales!

For those in SA, I've heard there will be an announcement in ~3 weeks regarding a new agent/dealer that should be operating from early DEC, hopefully this works out for us after having 6 months of effectively no local customer support (or sales for new customers) due to the gross incompetence of our current agent/dealer.

It’s a positive step, but I think I’ll wait until I see it before I get too excited!! One thing we’ve all learned is that Ineos never fail to disappoint!

Y’all Australian blokes, omg finally get to use that term & hope it’s not offensive to any of you, are very lucky. Y’all seem to have many service center availabilities. I am in the USA and my state has ZERO dealers or service centers. I did know this going in before I bought my first Grenadier. Fingers crossed Ineos ramps back up in 2025 and Louisiana gets put on the list!!🤞

In my town we have a Bosch service centre, BMW Indp. mech and the dealer SLRV who are very good.

For those of us in South Australia, I can highly recommend Tim and the team at Belair Road Auto (Bosch Service centre) to service your Grenadier.
They have now serviced 4 Grenadiers.
- Great communication (from Tim at Front of house and their service technician Jake)
- Quite reasonable labour costs ($154/hour)
- Didn't perform some servicing tasks (eg: front and rear diff oil change) because I've only just clocked up 8,000km in 11 months. Suggested performing these tasks next year when I'm closer to the 15,000km service interval.

They weren't able to perform a service interval reset, BUT, they have contacted Bosch Australia to see if they might be able to perform this function in the future. I'm not hopeful that this will be possible, but they "might" be able to.
I'd suggest ALL South Australian owners at least have a chat to Belair Road Auto first, before thay have their vehicle serviced by the Adelaide hills mob.

Good to hear you’ve found a good solution to the current mess in SA mate.

I laughed when you said a reasonable cost of only $154... imagine if you could charge yourself out at $154!!! The poor mechanic probably gets $46/hr...
But its ok if they do the service in the time allocation of 2 hours!!!

Yeah, Pricey but still nowhere near the $300+/hour some others on this forum have been charged!

I ask for rates, quotes on parts and estimated time on everything (not just servicing). Then when they give that up, I normally go for a fixed price on that info and assert time 'I' think is fair. Happy to step away from a 'purchase' any day of the week if I feel rip off in the air. It took me going to four (4) specialists to find a service price that I was happy with.

A friend had an independent service workshop for 25 yrs until he recently retired. Had 3 bays, 4 reliable mechanics and a loyal clientele. His total annual diagnostic subscription fees for several marques (essential for logbook servicing) were in excess of A$25,000. On top of that add two Bosch diagnostic tools plus sundry assorted connection leads (another $10k) . Then there were various Govt levies, EPA etc, insurances, business operating licences, hoist certification.... the list goes on. All in all his overheads were close to $1000 a day before he took account of wages. No wonder the hourly rates are up!!
