Amazing aftermarket audio system/speaker upgrade

I am strongly considering the V4M system - with the sound-deadening foam and replacement A-Pillar tweeters, but without the BT module and without the sub/bass knob installed in the upper panel. I received one installation quote so far from a reputable shop in Escondido, CA..... nearly $2,000!!! Good gravy, that sounds like robbery. If anyone has a recommendation for an installer in North County San Diego, post up please.

Do it yourself IF you have a lot of free time. I am not a big DIYer and so far I am half way through it. I've done all four doors, and I have to say the sound proofing makes a huge difference. I still have to install the amp, sub, a-pillars and wire everything up. I anticipate this would be much easier than the doors. The first door took a while but each door after that was quicker. With the amount of clips I broke on each door I highly doubt a shop would have replaced them correctly. I pre-ordered door clips from my dealer but those were not enough so I had to jerry rig trim clips into door clips. Another huge bonus is that you can completely sound proof the floors while you are doing the install.

How many hours do you reckon it will take you, all-in? The shop I got the estimate from arbitrarily estimated about 14 hours, which seems excessive for folks with heavy experience. If I DIY, my time, these days, is essentially free, but my patience is not. :)

For reference, if I'm not wrong, Car & Audio (Bjorn's company that supplies the system), appears to charge roughly $800 for the install.

Great advice on stocking up on extra door clips if I go DIY!

I will tell you how long it took me so far, but keep in mind that i am also a bit OCD with cutting and installing sound proofing. Looking back i wish i just slapped everything on and stopped worrying about it.

First door: 4 hrs
Second door: 3 hrs
Last two doors: 2.5 hrs each

Estimate for installing the rest which i haven’t done yet:
A-pillars: 1 hr
Amp/dsp: 0.5 hrs
Sub: 0.5 hrs
Wiring (removing trim): 3 hrs

While doing the doors, i definitely wish i did not start the project. But looking back - i am glad i did because i learned how doors work lol.

Thanks very much. I suspect my time would be not too far off (which is more than I want to dedicate). I think I will keep trying to find the right installer. (y)

Got to ask? Do you have a car trim kit? Basically the tools to remove trim and limit clip breakage?
