I agree that there are some real Grenadier disappointments, I have experienced some too, but I also know there is always "risk" involved with being an "early adopter" of anything in the world.
I think we are all Test Pilots. I knew going in, buying a ground-up, newly designed vehicle from an inexperienced never before car manufacturer does beg the question, "what could possibly go wrong?"
...and the answer is a LOT, however, I am also equally impressed given these parameters that the vehicle is as good as it is and that they were able to roll it out in such an overly-regulated environment at all.
I assume the next version of it when it comes out will be even better, just my .02.
Can a safety feature that is not DOT/NHSTSA mandated or approved be forced on buyers (without a method to opt out)?
Yep - and they can say it is for pending mandates and thats it -

Without pointing back to all my previous rants, Completely Agree. There were about 50 preorders in Nashville and from my understanding 5 have been delivered. Thats 10%. I know 4 or the 5 and they all HATE the way ADAS works. There are a handful of people on the forum that seem to 'tolerate' it, which is fine. Still looking for that one person that loves it.

This issue is going to magnify fast as more and more deliveries happen. Dealers across the country are preloading the 'Favorites Button Mod' that I came up with to bandaid the problem. I'm an IG fan and this is a huge issue for me. Sir Jim, love you buddy, but this isn't an issue when you're driving from Harrods to the Grenadier Pub in stop and go traffic. But, when you're on the farm with no traffic signals, you will have warning lights on the Display and the TellTale when your Grenadier gets ADAS.

At that point, there will be a resolution.

I want us all to get in our Grenadiers and drive without configuring the system every single '_______' time. Fill in the blank as you see fit.

Oh, and Happy Christmas!
Good news - you are now famous in MotorTrend and will forever be known as "that guy in Nashville!"

"Problem" is a funny word, because technically, this isn't a problem; it is a system working in the way that it was intended and designed to work.

There are a group of people who dislike the method in how the system works, so I guess you could call that the problem.

To be blunt, I'm not a fan of ADAS, but I've grown accustomed to a few buttons each time I start the car in all of our recent vehicles, and am completely content waiting 6+ months for an aftermarket solution instead of bombarding Ineos to "fix" a problem that exists with us as drivers, not with the vehicle. I'd rather they spend that time ironing out any other kinks that arise.
The system works as it should, the problem is it doesn’t allow user preferences. Turning ON every cycles is a pain. It should be open the door - seatbelt- drive. Not do a bunch os steps to turn off some options like a nanny

AMEN!

Is the ADAS system driving you nuts as a new owner?
Actually forgot it was present, other than the occasional speed sign popping up on the display. Then again, we were driving back normal madhouse freeway traffic and last thing I was listening for were "new" sounds.

I don’t have my Gren yet, but it’s likely 1-2 weeks away. I just don’t know what to expect - what I’ll think and how ISA will react in the roads I frequent the most. Either way, I’m really looking forward to a IA hacking tool.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I think it would make sense for everyone to hit up BimmerCode and ask them to support the car. They make an iPhone app that allows you to program BMWs and those with BMW drivetrains (eg Mini or Supra). I’ve coded numerous BMWs to resolve things like auto-start-stop and other annoying issues.

I sent an email to them earlier today at info@bimmercode.app.

Here’s their website: https://bimmercode.app/

Tried that 6 months ago and a big fat no was the reply. But now there’s more units on the road so who knows. To be honest after a year or 2 of production there’s enough incentive to have something made for this vehicle independently. But it all boils down to cost and rerun for the developer, and let’s not forget there is a very real possibility of bricking the vehicle when performing any software changes.

Would still like to see something along the lines of the IID tool for Land Rover.

Thanks Stu - has ineos said anything either way as in 'we are working to resolve this/think about it/so something? Or have they been non-responsive?

I recently placed an order for an IG which means they have about 8-12 months to get this fixed. I hate big brother noises and will not buy it if it’s going to chime every time I go over the speed limit. Thanks to all you pioneers for raising this issue to Sir Jim.

Hey all. After using the shortcut favorites method, I haven’t had to reset it last three trips. Only thing I’ve done differently is pair my wife’s phone as an alternate. Not sure if it has anything to do with it. Strange but I’m not complaining.

Excellent work! Evey US member on this forum with a Grenadier on order should copy/ paste this message or tweak it as your own and fire it off to your respective dealer. I will send mine out first thing tomorrow morning!
Just sent this to RDS

The problem is - do we REALLY trust a car dealer - all they want to do is get these things off the lot...

So I've seen a couple solutions where the Speed Warning can be disabled via favorites. Can the same 'path' disable the lane departure warning as well? I've heard the Speed Warning 'fix' also does not results in error warnings on the dash above the steering wheel - hopefully lane departure does the same.

I got a reply from Stephan at BimmerCode, also a No at this point.

I’ve just picked up a coding tool called ThinkDiagAG that the Porsche community has been using with success to code cars (which has been historically harder to do than BMW). Apparently it works across all cars and is relatively cheap. Might be worth a shot. Also, note the full coding functionality only works on Android devices, not iOS, so keep that in mind if anyone decides to go this route. When I get my Gren, I’ll try it, but I’m 3 months away.

I hear ya - and like the ideal - but we need Ineos to fix this. I would bet we start messing with code and they will void the warranty. Also we risk turning this into a large brick

Using the favorites route can we also disable the lane departure warning as well?
Hi YellowLab, I'm not sure you can set more than one favorite item at a time. DaBull
