    Wrangler better?

    I ended up adding two layers of sound proofing on the trunk floor and the wheel wells. Also added some resonix sound absorbing material at various places in the wheel wells. The noise is acceptable now.

    I actually got rid of my RR bars because I hated the wind noise. It was loud in front and moved back to b pillar - both loud - and I don’t have safari windows. I switched to Leitner bars and added their wire guides. So much better in terms of noise level.

    When they say it’s “ normal “ what they actually mean is that, most are not filled and bled from factory so as soon as they are started and driven it starts to damage the pump, then the owner drives it and damages the pump more. At that point damage and noise is normal

    On the phone to my wife today using wireless carplay and she said the audio was awful. I had the sunroof open and she said it improved whilst it was closed. But then it got better still as I slowed to a stop. The sunroof does allow in a bit of noise even when closed.

    They all weep from new. But eventually it’s gets less and less once all the air has disappeared. The steering becomes lighter and the whine noise gets quieter too.

    There seem to be more reports from the US about this issue, maybe its due to the diesel being a louder engine which may conceal or reduce the perceived noise of the pump in many of the ROW vehicles.

    I’ve been into 2 dealerships, no help, they just say it’s “within range” even though the loaner truck they gave me was much less noisy. Its absurd, people ask me all the time what is wrong with my truck….bad advertising for Ineos.

    Yes i removed it, something is loose inside. But i don’t want to try to take it apart. I can see there is some kind of noise insulation material between the two halves that go together. It makes me think that Ineos already knows about the problem with this part.

    Can I just check. Is the ‘noise’ you had the resonance sound that many are experiencing at 1500 to 2000 rpm in all gears when under load, or was it a noise at those revs but whether under load or not - I.e. occurred even if engine revved in neutral? Thanks

    There should definitely not be any noise. My diesel VIN 8xx has no squeal and the two loaners I have had for servicing/recalls (petrol 15k and diesel 1k) were quiet as well. I hope you all can get a resolution as those video examples sound horrendous.
