new IG with less than 300 miles.
Driving over washboard road at speeds of around 20-25mph results in a metallic / hollow sounding rattle above the driver-side footwell region. Driving at any speeds on pavement does not trigger this rattle.
Anyone else experience something similar?
For those who are interested. Here is my tip to get 100% rattle free Ineos camping table. Tried and tested over 6 months. Assuming the table is fitted correctly and tightly, it still rattles on bumps. Here is a few photos of the things I’ve done.
So basically the arms rattle against each other...
Hi all, wondering if anyone (maybe with BMW experience) has seen this before. My grenadier has developed a very loud rattle with the engine off and the ignition in “accessory”. It’s worse with the engine cold/cool and doesn’t do it 100% of the time. I’ve had a dig through the B57 (diesel)...
...away for a couple of weeks. The Grenadier was parked in the garage. I get back in it over the weekend and there is a crazy irritating door rattle from inside the Door Trim. I removed the central lower screw but the Trim was still very snug to the metalwork. Using a Trim tool I managed to...
Hi Does anyone have an issue with the Ineos Tailgate foldable camp table rattle when you go over bumps? If so did you find a fix? I can’t seem to work out what part of it is rattling.
...my IG a week ago today and all was fine until yesterday. Sun/Mon I drove 450 miles with no issues. When I drove it on Tuesday, a strange rattle started and is there every time I drive. It is not constant and seems to be provoked by left hand turns. Yet, it is not during every turn and...
One possibility is the heat shields rattling under the car. My rattles were intermittent and unpredictable. Three of my heat shields were readjusted and the rattle disappeared. Your description is close to the rattle my heat shields caused.
I also found my jack loose in the rear quarter and...
My one drove me nuts, I stuck two large foam sponges in, did not help. I stuck anti rattle tape around the arms and there is no longer any rattle whatsoever. Had never heard of anti rattle tape up to this point. No need to find a different table
Anyone know of an anti-rattle contraption that will fit our Grenadier tow hitch receiver assembly? The wide plate at the front of the receiver assembly blocks conventional devices from fitting and preventing clunking sounds caused by loose-fitting ball mounts, bike racks, skid plates, etc...
That is the anti rattle tape fitted, just apply wherever there is going to be a metal to metal interface, and like magic your noise has gone. Much more simple than many of the other proposals which don't work at best. Anti Rattle tape available on Amazon.
Can you post a picture of the table with the tape visible around the arms, thanks.
I think it will be informative, aka I may need to do it and I can shamelessly copy your fix!
If all the fasteners are tight and there is no play in the closed position. Then the next step is to use black anti rattle felt tape on certain inner sections of the arms which rattle against the table on bumps.
I have no rattles from my camping table even when off roading.
Where are these heat shields? In the engine compartment or under the vehicle?
I do also have heavy metal clunk in the back going over these washboard roads
I just started getting a strange rattle after I drive over a speed bump or other abrupt dip or bump. It sounds like its coming from the front passenger side and even sometimes sounds like it may be in the roof but I didn't have a rack or safari roof. It sounds like when you flick a spring...
Since I took delivery exactly 1 year ago - I have been putting up with what I thought was a persistent knock type rattle from my camp table when driving over potholes in the road.
I tried everything - inserting felt & foam into every metal surface on the table.
Today I completely removed it -...
Ok - so curious if anyone else is experiencing a clicking/rattle noise on the drivers side (US) front window at low speeds? I have 2.5k on the Grenadier and absolutely love the vehicle, but at about 2k I started hearing a clicking or rattling noice at low speeds going over bumps and rough...
I have the ECall error at the moment. I'm told it needs a software patch to fix, (UK).
I'm just ignoring it, rather like a random body rattle in an old LR110.
I had same issue, rattle sounded like it was coming from the headliner above the drivers seat. The fix described here with a zip tie resolved the issue. Thank you for posting the fix.
I've been incredibly satisfied with my vehicle, regularly take it up to Maine and back. Planning on a road trip and would feel perfectly comfortable, haven't had any issues not a squeak or rattle.
Hi Jean,
When I disassembled my rai I put some armaflex inside to avoid vibrations.

as for the two plastic inserts, in my opinion you can replace them with...
Crawled underneath my car to see if I can diagnose the metallic rattle on the driver side.
Found a plastic clip loose and freely sliding along this shinny plastic line above the front drive shaft. The clip itself can touch the drive shaft, depending on where it’s positioned.

This is the Header from Amazon in case anyone else is looking for the stuff, £7.49 in the UK delivered free with prime
I was able to confirm that the black cable was the source of my rattle. I took an awl and punched a small hole in the heat shield and passed a plastic zip tie to secure the cable higher so it wouldn't touch the drive shaft. No more rattle! When I had the rattle, it was very hard to pinpoint. It...
...the right rear seat and had their weight and back pushing up against the smaller seat back. If I was running with no rear passengers then it rattled/knocked again. Making my own sleeve to take out the extra tolerance at the pivot pin was an easy fix. I doubt a new OEM plastic bushing would...
Afraid nothing I know of - but very interested to hear as a couple of these fell out the bottom of my drivers door when I was rattle hunting. So broken from factory :(
Wow! Awesome work man👍🏼
I will experiment with the subtle large door closing technique too😁
Kinda funny as my back doors have an occasional rattle/knock when crossing rough areas on gravel roads, which I am intending to investigate when back home!
Thanks for all the efforts 👍🏼
@Cheshire cat , the type of ball mount that's inserted into the receiver tube always rattles. I have a TMR Customs skid plate attached to my receiver tube and I haven't found an anti-rattle device that fits the wide "flange" of the tube. Here's a ball mount with a built-in anti-rattle feature...
I arrived at this post because I also have an intermittent rattle. I thought it was my mud flaps, but the rattling would speed up and slow down according to vehicle speed. It almost sounded like my mud flaps were rubbing on the tires. After reading through this post, I looked under my truck and...
Hi Dermot, it is just a piece of plastic coated wood I found in my garage + 2 short pieces of rope. Total built time roughly 10 minutes. It does not stay on while driving, so no rattle 😉
I got the bison gear molle panels with the bison gear Jerry can. Every so often I would be hear a little rattle from the can holder, especially when I wasn't carrying fuel.
I decided to add 1mm gasoline tolerant neoprene shock rubber between the can mount and the molle panel.
I got a roll of...
I got the jerry can holders for the molle panels on the rear windows. both from bison gear.
tip, at least for me the jerry can holders rattle a little bit. i ordered a roll of 1mm neoprene that i'm gluing between the back of the jerry can holder to make the rattle on the "wings" at the bottom go...
I saw a Quartermaster in the flesh at Purnell Adventure, while I had a few items fixed, the main one being a rattle that has bugged me for weeks. The tub is bigger than I thought and built tough. The techs were doing some pre-delivery work.
I think the upcoming cab chassis (ie no tub) will be...
Did the deal.. picked up my own abandoned order from March/April. Couple of glitches (stained cargo area) and spare tire rattle... and it needs to go back for seat covers/side runners..
Wife is very happy, I am happy, pretty good outcome.
Yes I have the rattle. Solved it by cutting a piece of sleep mat foam to the size of the table and it sits inside the folded up table to stop rattling. It doubles up as a nice sitting pad too I guess!. Tried tightening all the fasteners but that didn't help.
Just returned from my INEOS agent to show them the seat rattle.
I took a copy of D-Mack's photo of the broken bushing (see above).
Senior service guy said...."that's a French job"!!
You mean the new bushing has to come from the factory, I asked?
"No - I will have your back seat removed and...
I finally convinced my wife to part-ex her inherited Velar for a Lexus. I will breath a sigh of relief when it goes. Thought I could hear a timing chain rattle last time it past me.

Other discussion about rattles. Cable bracket has broken on some.
Small tip. After driving about 100 miles, my shelf started to rattle a bit. I tightened all the bolts and rattle is gone. I keep my Torx screwdriver in the vehicle.
The 2” receiver has a 10mm nut welded on to the bottom so that a bolt can be screwed in to pinch the 2” bar. This eliminates any rattle. Just have a look underneath.
Fitted my trusty old 1UP rack today. As expected the front tray is too close to the spare tire to be useful. Ha. Will get a receiver extension tube soon, probably the Kuat Hi Lo Pro (offset approx 10" back and 2" up) because it seems skookum enough and has an anti-rattle mechanism as does the 1UP.
Ok - bit of an update. I drove the vehicle this morning and the VAST majority of the noise is gone, but occasionally I can still hear a faint rattle at low speeds (5-10MPH). The window seal noise appears to be completely done and the mild rattle I have may just be “the nature of the vehicle”...
...is making as I go down the road. Vehicle in the video is stationary at normal ride height on a flat surface empty with no additional cargo or weight in the vehicle. Can't replicate the noise on the left rear it is solid and does not rattle. Vehicle has less than 200 miles on it at this point.
I took my Grenadier off-road today, and began to experience a similar rattle after a few hours. For me, it seems to be coming from the passenger side and front of the dash or inside the engine compartment. Would love to hear what you learn.
...the nut off, or at worst damage the lower face of the hitch (and especially if the bolt is harder than the hitch shank).
A loaded hitch won't rattle during towing due to down load but may clunk a bit when the hitch shifts minimally in the receiver due to pitching movements. That's normal...
I found the same issue, and it seems to solve the rattle. Here are two pics... one before with it just about touching the drive shaft (which it was but I moved it just a bit to test), and then the second one where I pulled it away from the drive shaft. You'll see that there is a floating clip...
Quick update.. still having this odd rattle
from right rear spring. Now when I close either the right rear passenger or cargo door you can hear the coils clattering together slightly. I was looking for some coils spring sleeves to slip around a couple of the coils near the top of the spring to...
...time worked better. Trying it now with the ASA-GF and the flex. We’ll see if it prints better. The flex is also where the bolt goes, and it rattle a bit in the GEN1 version. The flex seems to quiet that, plus the edges of the door are flex, so they aren’t as prone to rattle.
I’ve also...
...wrapped my last few vehicles' plates with these as soon as the dealer advertising frames come off.
Medium thick, flexible, unbreakable, no rattle, no rust, and they cover the entire back and front edges without obscuring any of your beautiful state or provincial plate artwork and slogans...
Mine is getting worse, today while on some mildly bumpy roads the rattle was worse than ever and even persisted for a few seconds after I stopped at times. It also seems to coincide with the RPM of the drive train or wheel speed, the slower or faster I went the rattle kept pace. I crawled...
Thanks again for looking. I decided to get a swing away that uses a threaded hitch pin for the anti rattle vs the wedge types. This way I can simply cut the hitch a bit shorter if needed. Hitch is getting installed Monday so should be able to get it all figured out. Appreciate the help.
Going for a quick ski tour with my dog this morning, I'll encounter some bumpy roads that might cause the rattle so I will report back if I find any change.
I quite like the idea of a working table in that location.
Does it rattle much?
Any thought about adding a hand turned knuckle screw up on top to connect the folding piece with the attachment to the grab bar to eliminate any chance of rattle when driving? The locking pins looks like they would...
Hello Parb,
there's no rattle!
We have constructed these brackets for offroad use! We have many years experience with these products. The drop arms are "bedded" in rubber buffer.
OK - when the Grenadier lies on the side it rattles :-).
All parts are made out of stainless steel. The...
Installed Bison's rear table last night. Took about 15minutes. Really impressed - this is the table other tables should be. Access to tool roll, solid work surfaces + molle attach underneath. Rattle free on our drive in this morning, too. A+ guys!
...the door seals were making noise. They lubricated them with something, silicone maybe? Anyway since I’ve had it back I haven’t heard the rattle noise. They also removed the door panel to look for any loose parts and found nothing. I did notice the exact same noise in the loaner...
Hi Jert, I like the molle window grill/ table. Does it rattle when you drive and I really would like one. Could you you send me a link to the shop?
Best wishes
Dermot
ACF 50 or similar on all the bolt heads and they won't rust.
l use XCP rust blocker, it's a similar product and comes in rattle cans.
l sprayed underneath my 2022 Defender and after two Winters it still looks new.
The strips may have been removed previously and the connectors damaged. The clips can be replaced with new ones and the roof rails re-seated but they can't be adjusted.
...I found it yet, still need to take it out and test it but I did find a loose panel in the right front wheel well which is where it felt like rattle was coming from. In the front of the wheel well on both sides is a vented plastic cover that covers the front of the wheel well. It is bolted...
The installation instructions specify that the bolts need to be tightened after the initial journey. In certain instances, the paint may compress, requiring a subsequent tightening of the bolts. Once this adjustment is made, the bolts will remain secure and not come loose.
