I have had my Grenadier for just over one year now and it's becoming part of the family. I feel that it drives better now than when it was new.
I originally purchased it hoping that it has been "Built to Last" and I can keep it for many years. I feel that a well built vehicle that can be repaired and that will last for many years must be better for the environment than scrapping cars / electric cars after 6 to 10 years.
Obviously the service manual will be super useful once it's outside of the manufacturers warranty 🤞

I have only had mine since 20 Jan 2024 and she's like well loved Family. A few "spats" like all Family but things will get sorted out (and I knew to expect some "headaches" given she's 1st generation). I've had my '96 5 speed manual Discovery for 28 yrs thanks to enthusiastic knowledgeable independent mechanics and a much loved service manual. Plan no different with my "G". "Built to Last" .

My history of vehicles over the past 25 years involves a vehicle change around every 2ish years (some sooner, only a few longer), who knows if it will be vastly different with the Grenadier... Perhaps just a switch to a newer model at that point?

I use the vehicle 85% for work so can claim it on tax.
Typically I can claim depreciation of the vehicle value over a minimum of 5 years but there are a lot of rules on maximum starting value etc that my accountant can work out.
You really need to keep them for 5 years to maximise that I believe.

I bought it with the expectation of keeping it until I can no longer drive. I'm 60 now, so 20-30 years or so, (ambitious, I know). (My son is getting used to the modified Dad joke - "One day son, you'll inherit a country estate, and here it is!" One day he might learn to drive).

Main dealers don't like older vehicles, so the manual will be essential, (Ineos Automotive be warned).

I am a terror for keeping vehicles for a long time; I had my LR110CSW for 17 years, I've had the Morgan 4/4 since June 1991.

It's a no brainer - a forever keeper for me. At least until my steering starts to wander and my left foot intrudes and I start to make bong sounds.

Old Neville across the road from me is 97 or could now be 98 and he drives every day in his Hyundai.
Last week he had a mobility scooter delivered.
He uses that now for short trips down to the boat ramp
Nev's place is the little house I have drawn the red arrow on
The boat ramp is obviously the other red arrow.
My house with my nice new shed and the Grenadier parked in it is circled in yellow.
The house with the big red teardrop is for sale for $1.6 Million.

About ten years, when my eldest goes off to college. If it survives that, I’ll buy him a new whatever as a graduation present and take back the grenadier.

It's amazing how avoiding junk food and ciggies and walking everywhere until you can't adds years to a chap's life 😊
It's either that , or one of the 2,500 gods that people worship is intervening.

George and Carmel two doors up from us are about to turn 88.
Carmel does most of the driving now
George still uses the ride on mower and Carmel does the hard parts with a normal mower and a whipper snipper.
Typical country folk with clean air living and probably never had any junk food or a smoke in their life.

Hopefully for the whole 30 years I heard mentioned in an early Grenadier sales briefing. I kept a first year Mercedes M Class for 300,000 miles, and this is a better vehicle. Coincidentally, I am 68: so the Grenadier should see me out.

Possibly for life. I cash in vehicles at 200K or less and 10-12 years generally. But my most capable trail rig is a 1996 Montero with SAS this is meant to replace. The 2015 4 Runner was just not my cup of tea.( and damn sure not the 2005 Xterra Clunker before) I could see the Grenadier being around, eventually next to a new Power Wagon( mine is approaching 200K) and a Quartermaster.
