I’ve said that very thing many times over. Mid to late 90s LR dealerships - especially the standalone ones - were awesome. I can’t recall the safri outfits per se at the NE ones, but the staff members were certainly wearing outdoorsy gear and not suits and ties. The vibe of the dealership itself was great. The walls were covered with photographs of the Camel Trophy, the Oxford Cambridge Singapore overland, and others of LRs doing what they were made for. And most importantly, all of the folks I remember speaking with KNEW the products, the history and ethos of the company, and outwardly showed passion for the whole thing. Could it have just been slick marketing and some smoke and mirrors - maybe - but it sold me nonetheless.

That is my hope for IG dealers here but that is yet to be scene. My dealer (RDS of PA) are working out of temporary digs while the new building is being put together, so I haven’t seen their setup.

One thing that concerns me about many of the dealership groups, with respect to the vibe, is their connection to high-end brands. I do not live in a world of Rolls Royce, Bugatti, McClaren, Lambo, Ferrari, etc and many of the IG groups do. Perhaps I’m being unfair, but I hope my perspective on those brands doesn’t transfer to their IG franchises.
1000% agree. I'll bet NA leadership (Greg) wanted this to be different but ran out of runway.

@Mossy Ineos Grenadier TX Ashton, its never too late:) I thought the Yeti store in Austin is a good example of what the Ineos dealer should look like.

This is what I want my next coffee shop to look like. I envision a safari-adventure-exploration style interior, much like the expedition/outpost theme of the Land Rover dealership of the late 90’s. I think it looks welcoming, and very family friendly, classy, and educated all at the same time. Obviously a modern interpretation, of the above image.

I'm assuming you mean gross trailer weight vs tongue. Agree, from our use case the Grenadier is best suited for the lighter duty loads....but, since its not a daily driver I'd be ok if the factory included a different spring with the tow package. Lots that can be done with springs/shocks that won't harshly alter ride comfort unloaded. I cancelled taking our order when I got to the dealer to pick it up a few weeks back and realized it didn't have a hitch (I must have pressed the wrong key or something). Sine there have been cancelations I've put the word out that I'll take one with a hitch when it avails itself.
I meant tongue weight. Gross trailer can honestly be whatever that’s just for regulatory people not practical use. I had a f150 on the ranch I grew up working and I’d tow tractor implements everywhere, just didn’t go fast. Basically any half ton or otherwise vehicle has a tongue weight of 700lbs. If you’re balanced right you shouldn’t be exceeding that and not see much sag. Take a high lift jack and put it under your trailer with a scale on it and start jacking. My twin axel boat that will hit 8k with it completely loaded out, 150gal fuel, coolers of ice,+trailer doesn’t do 700lbs on the tongue.

When it comes to anti sway, it’s all junk. Level your platform, balance your weight so it’s not all riding on the left or right side, and air your tires evenly and you’ll do better. My LR is like it’s lane assist. Everyone that drives it notices it pulling on the wheel and makes you seem wobbly, but it does keep you between the lines. Trailer assist on the LR makes it a bit half arsed but it “helps” people that need it.

From a camping trailer perspective, you hear 10% as a good estimate of what will sit on the hitch. But it varies. A stand-out example is Airstream. Nice trailers, nice materials, iconic, expensive. For a given trailer weight, the percentage an Airstream puts on the hitch of the tow vehicle is higher than 10%.

Example: a 25' Flying Cloud has a base weight of 5,650 lbs and at that base weight, it's putting 860 lbs on the hitch. (!) That's 15%. So 860 lbs taken away from your truck's payload before and your passengers and gear get in.

Load it with liquids and cargo close to its GVWR of 7,300 lbs and you'll have over 1,000 lbs on your hitch.


Anyways, Airstream is a tough example and some would say a camping 25' trailer is inappropriate for the Greandier's wheelbase or other aspects. But even with an F150, giving up 1,000 lbs of payload before passengers and gear is something to think about.

Again, the hitch has a limit, as do most in the category, of 700lbs on it. Putting 1,000lbs on it is already in excess of its design.

No, but I was pleased to see that Crown in FL received the first deliveries with the tow option. That was from the same ship that arrived Brunswick Nov 6 that my vehicle was on. So hopefully Mossy will get some units with tow package in the next few days.

Ashton, how about getting your sales guides to dress in safari/outdoor clothes. My fond memory of buying my first Land Rover was that back then, late 90's, the salesmen dressed in safari guide outfits. They really sold the whole lifestyle, not just the car (I did end up buying a Disco2 from the original LR dealer in Houston). Their showroom too, looked outdoorsy. Hate the slick new urban look LR showrooms now have.

Ha! Good call. I completely agree with you and @Krabby - the idea of more outdoor and less slacks/button-down look. While I don't want them looking like a Disney adventure theme park workers, we do have Ineos branded uniforms on the way. Hats / shirts / khakis - all much more in-line with the vehicle's ethos.

Mossy: As I’m sure you’ve read on the forum there appears to be issues with this ADAS system that’s not on the demo models. A few on Facebook and here have said it’s driving them crazy. I personally hadn’t heard of any of this and it would appear no one else had either. The biggest complaint being it makes annoying sounds when you exceed any speed limit by 1mph. There’s a means to turn this feature off but each and every single time you start the vehicle that process of scrolling through screens to deactivate has to happen again making it extremely annoying to say the least. Can you use your contacts at Ineos to find if they have any plans to adjust the software to correct this counter-feature? I’m seriously on the fence about owning a vehicle that’s going to be this much anti-driver. Kinda goes against the whole purpose of buying one.

Either that or is there some under-the-table fix one could do to stop it from activating?

They were helpful in some instances, particularly with speed limit changes, but I agree that they can become intrusive, especially when marginally exceeding the limit. I'm awaiting a response from Ineos and hopeful for a quick software update. At this moment though, I don't have definitive information. It's a priority.

I've been following those discussions as well. In my personal experience, after delivering our first Grenadier this past weekend and driving it for about 30mi, I did notice the alerts. They were helpful in some instances, particularly with speed limit changes, but I agree that they can become intrusive, especially when marginally exceeding the limit. I'm awaiting a response from Ineos and hopeful for a quick software update. At this moment though, I don't have definitive information. It's a priority.
