The one thing that really jumped out at me was the lack of front clearance the strike zone for the steering dampener, I think someone had posted about this in an earlier thread but to see it measured 'as is' was a bit of a laugh when comparing to the 'sales' document. All in all, that was an excellent review and no rose-tinted glasses there. I think IA must have paid RP a bit - to not mention the elephant sized RHD footrest when in the very start of his driving, he left leg looks like its sitting up 3 inches!!!

Maybe it’s the aircraft style cockpit. Ever since I started flying I’ve become acutely aware of weight & balance.

Or maybe it’s the cycling connections with team Ineos. Again, acutely aware of incremental weight savings.

"Plus 2 heavies" - Pepper slinging salt. My guess is Ineos is not providing payload weights for the Trialmaster and Fieldmaster variants because they are (hopefully!) in the process of making changes based upon all the excellent feedback on the initial releases courtesy of this forum and other owners for model year 2024 and beyond. In other words, the payload for those trims (and perhaps even the base Station Wagon) is a moving target right now.

After thinking about this further - I could be dreaming, but for some reason I remember an early Grenadier brochure (not sure which country) that had an asterisk or sword icon or some other footnote at the payload figure that gave adjusted payloads for the TM and FM editions. Does anyone else remember that?

Yes, I am sure I have it here somewhere.
The problem is that there are so many options they become meaningless.
My configuration starts with the Fieldmaster and then adds everything that the Trialmaster has plus some other things.
How would Ineos possibly work out my new payload weight???
MY24 is a bit easier because there are a lot less options available.
My MY23 version every possible option was available regardless of which base model you chose.

Robert said he’s unsure why Australia got a 50kg GVM upgrade over the rest of the world. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought it was entirely due to Ineos managing to get an agreement with the ATO to remove the luxury car tax. It saved most buyers around $11K.

It gets a bit complicated ; the different springs at front for winch/bullbar , the bias when to shifting loads towards the rear/right vs left , moving stuff into the trailer/van.
I guess until people post detailed weighbridge figures , it's guesswork and the usual risk taking.

If people get to see their vehicles right off the transporter there's a chance it may have a sticker with weight details:

As long as people add the weight of the stuff that hasn't yet been fitted , and keep an eye on the beer level, all will be OK.
But once people add long range tanks , drawer systems, water etc etc the limits loom.

I think we will be ok. Most of the time it will be just me (heavy) and my wife (light) dog, (light) a fridge some tools and clothes in the car. Most of the rest goes in the camper trialer which is only about 1.5 tonnes loaded. So all up should be fine.

A lot of people are calling bull on their story. There has to be to it than just driving off a curb. If you look at the break the lower looked like it was done a while ago. The top just let go. I figured they did something that they shouldn't and thought they got away with it. Unbenowst to them the bottom crack. And over time broke.

I'm with you on this, the oxidation is well established on the lower portion, whereas the upper is still very fresh where the alloy failed. Now if thats because of prior damage or just an unusual progressive material failure in a single casting then thats different story, and to be honest we'll never get to the bottom if it.

Either way I'd not like to be trying to get it repaired at LR's expense.
