Towing Again

I'm happy to learn but I thought E11 just signified the approval country was UK, and in the same manner:

The actual regulation is "55" and the long number is the the actual certificate number.

My understanding is that E11 type approval relates specifically to N1 commercial vehicles (more info here: E11 Approval) and does not cover M1 vehicles which come under a different set of type approval rules.
Agree, my understanding is for M1 passenger vehicles the only UK option is a tow ball.

Here's the original towball:

E6 being Belgium, the same regulation 55, albeit - 01 applies, and the certificate number is 0930 with extension 01 (for changes made since the original application).

I’ve asked my dealer if they can supply the 2” receiver hitch the same as yours. My Grenadier is an N1 anyway so no issues.

This is the type approval sticker on the part attached directly to the chassis on my N1 variant ~ the "Vertical Towing Interface":

If someone with a Belstaff edition M1 posts a picture of theirs, we can compare the type approval?

Does it make reference to EC94/20?

a type approved tow ball
This is a type approved tow ball ~ there's a tow ball on the end of it?

Happy to learn, but does it actually say it has to be a tow ball (by which I taking it we are talking about a fixed tow ball).

All the bits I've read just state it has to be type approved equipment, be that the tow bar mounting to the vehicle, drop plates, adapters and final couplings.

This is one I had for the landy, it was never used so I won’t be using it again for the Greny. I will not be attaching a tow ball to it, ever (honest) I got it a good while ago when I put a new back bumper on it landy from someone in the UK but can’t remember whoIMG_7934.jpegIMG_7933.jpeg

Nice, it's not made by Safari Equip by any chance?

For the life of me I can’t remember but it came with this a NAS spec bumper about 8 IMG_7935.jpegyears ago I got sick of smashing my shins 🤣🤣

I've got the LR UK version of that on mine. Nice bit of kit, although plenty of issues with them rotting from the inside out.

Also had a very similar version of the hitch part on my Discovery.

Hammerite is a good friend 👍

Yes used to be very familiar with that product as well as POR 15. The issue was getting it inside the tubes to try and stop this happening:

Hi DCPU, I can't see the last digit of the Type approval number, is it a 6? If so they are both the same so there is no reason for them not to fitted on either N1 or M1 versions.
It looks like you could tow a tank with it! Good stuff from Brink :)
Well done again, trying to get one via JT Hughes.

He's day off on Wednesdays, Dan Bowdler there is looking in to it and will call me back. I will post here as soon as he does and tell him there are others who want them to.
Is as I suspect the E11 type approval number on DCPUs one ends in a 6 the they are good for all versions of the Grenny.
