My name is Adam and I have a Grenadier. That feels good to say out loud in a safe space!!
I just wanted to pop on and say a massive thank you to this group. From reading this forum I have learned so much about these epic vehicles beyond my obvious aesthetic love and dreamers need for a reliable alternative to my Landrover penchant. I feel like I have made my purchase with my eyes wide open and because of that I have enjoyed the process that much more. So once again I tip my cap to the brilliant info and conversations on this forum.
My Grenadier is a 2024 diesel Staion Wagon and I have to say so far I love it. My first drive was a 300 mile return home with the car post trading in my Doscovery 5 and I have to say it handled the long drive well. Comfortable, quieter than expected and with fuel economy of 26mpg I was pleased. I followed this up with a shorter tow of a boat on a 1900kg trailer and again she handled the job without hesitation. The MPG for the journey dropped to just under 20mpg which again I am quite happy with. Added bonus is my 3 and a half year old daughter thinks it’s the coolest thing she has ever seen and I am spending my evenings searching accessories to add to the car. All is right with the world. My day job involves towing boats around and many long journeys as well as some light ‘off road’ use so I am excited to see how the car handles the tasks ahead!
I guess it wouldn’t be a forum post without a few negatives and a couple of asks to balance the books. The first negative is my AC stopped working within the first few days of ownership, now this car has done 7k miles so its not brand new but obviously I was disappointed. The disappointment however was quashed pretty quickly when doing some reading and searching on here as I realised the fault could be a loose fuse. Head touch on I headed out and lifted the back seats and after a quick flick through the manual this mechanics dream customer pushed one fuse down a bit further and ‘fixed’ the fault. Cool crisp air back on my face. Now some could say the car shouldn’t have loose fuses in this sort of market but I say when else to I get a chance to feel like I’ve fixed something. And thus the Grenadier has ushered in a new me, I am now the guy that fixes my cars issues myself….before consulting a mechanic when I ultimately can’t just push a fuse The second negative which again I think I will likely be able to fix is my windscreen wash jets especially on the drivers side (right) are woeful and barely wet the wipers never mind the windscreen. Any insight or advice on how to fix would be much appreciated!! The third observation is I have a slight high pitched noise over the engine at low speed which I think is something to do with the power steering as it goes away if I stop moving the wheel. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a quick fix?
Finally has anyone successfully moved the rear bench seat back on a N1 commercial wagon I’ve read a thread regarding it but have seen no updates. Any info would be much appreciated.
