Fun fact and in the last days of black history month; cowboys was a term used to describe black ranchers. White men went by the name Cowhands. The term Cowboy was meant to be derogatory as"boy" was widely still used as a negative term to call black men. Fun fact number 2, Lone ranger was based off of Bass Reeves who was black. @JKAlpine @TenacI thought it came from ranching cattle.... Stole this from Google; "The term "cowboy" comes from the Spanish word vaquero, which means "one who manages cattle from horseback". The word vaquero comes from vaca, which means "cow" in Spanish.
