where do you live? Anywhere with heat/intense sun your roof is going to act as a large heat absorber if black. Imagine that’s why so many IGs and LRs in the past had white roofs. [/QUOTE]
Yeah that was my thoughts and why I initially went with a white roof.
I am in Queensland so it will be a problem.
I was also concerned with salt from paddleboard showing on the black roof
Getting my wife to buy in to the project comes with only this compromise and the black looks good with the black bars and flares

If that’s what it takes! When are you all expecting to take delivery?

Will she be influenced by this? https://carfromjapan.com/article/industry-knowledge/do-black-cars-get-hotter/ I'm in Hobart , and even I wouldn't get a black roof!

> She just worked through the configurator with me and can't wait for a test drive

Lucky man.

You have another choice: Order a white roof and let some experts put black matte foil on it. Or stay with the black roof, it can be foiled white later, if necessary.

And by the way, if she "can't wait," a white roof wasn't really a deal breaker in my opinion. ;-) And the arguments are on your side. Although I know, of course, that arguments are not necessarily important for women. ?

I think black roof in Straya would be bad! Bad enough on hot days in Europe! Body colour mushroom roof for me!

Mushroom for me too. Doesn't show scratches and doesn't show dirt as much. Plus cool and you can still see it on the blacktop (safety). And if lost in a forest , the chopper might find it!

I once had a brain snap and bought a well used Range Rover P38 off the net?.... was going "cheap". Well I had it for 9 years and rebuilt it... anyway the point is that it was  metallic black in colour. I live in Queensland. On a winter's day at 17 deg C the exterior surfaces were uncomfortably hot. In summer at 42 deg C in the sun, the surface temp was in excess of 80 deg C.. .I once poached an egg in an aluminium ring on the bonnet (hood) as a boozy barbecue party trick! ?I now have a Hyundai SUV, white in colour. On a scorching hot day in the summer sun, the metal surfaces are quite comfortable to the touch.... no more black vehicles thank you!!

I grew up in Phoenix, AZ - and we know the same rules about black cars lol.  White or sliver is all I'll buy.  Well, maybe that sexy green with a white roof?

Bumpers question: In a video, the they said that australian bumpers will be made of steel. What will they be made of in Europe? Plastic or steel?

On one of the prototype video's the driver says that the "Wading" button turns off the parking sensors and the cooling system. I assume he just means the fan not the complete cooling system. I have not seen any other mention or pictures of parking sensors.
There hasn't been much talk about airbags either.

This guy does really good reviews. He seems data-driven, and pretty fair-minded. He did not have a good experience with Eaton, and explains why:

That is a fantastic, simple and fact based video. Particularly with the footage of the issue happening to him.
The comment I mentioned came from this guy  https://www.youtube.com/c/4xoverland
Andrew St Pierre White.
I think for what I intend to use it for the Eaton lockers will be ok now that I know about this issue up front.
Thanks.

That’s great in-depth. I get why they went with the E locker for simplicity.
I think they also understand that really serious offroaders will order without the lockers and with basic wheels etc and then use aftermarket modifications to suspension, ride height, lockers, etc. I don't think anyone is going to do really technical offroad rock hopping in a 2.5 Tonne vehicle with 280mm ground clearance in stock layout.

If the Eatons malfunction , I presume they will be covered by warranty?

What does such an ARB or Pro-Locker cost in the after market?

In Australia a single locker is about AUD$1700 fitted , plus a compressor $300 , so  around $1500 USD

That's my expectation also. On that basis, the Eaton fitted as a production line option will carry a 5yr warranty...
I was impressed with the video...excellent explanation....but he also pointed out that if people were not "technical" driving they probably wouldn't notice! He also noted the Eaton reliability.  On that score, my optimistic take is that Ineos wouldn't have chosen Eaton had they not thought that  the product would be well suited to the Grenadier for its intended purpose.... I have no intention of doing 'technical' driving (well not with SWMBO in the passenger seat anyway??)
