I might be the only one this waffle applies to; it might confirm I can be a ditz at times. Or it only might confirm this is a very auto savvy group and it’s just me.

What common sense or seemingly intuitive thing did you learn about a car, but embarrassingly late…?

Me — when you look at a car’s gas gauge, there is a subtle little arrow that points toward the side of the car the gas tank is on. NOBODY taught me that! And I suppose it should’ve been intuitive, but nope. Just learned it like 5 years ago.
I always saw the filler cap on the outside so never noticed this but I think a lot of our cars were too old to have this anyway

The arrow wasnt always there it used to be that the nozzle and hose was on the side of the pump that the tank fill up was on (if on the left of the pump then fill up was on drivers side and vice versa).

Mine was about 10 years ago when I found out you can remove the headrests and use the posts to break the side windows if trapped.
