This is why the subject is so interesting to me — and sometimes funny to me, bc people can feel passionate/adamant about one side or another. If you read threads about it there are a lot of people who are almost offended that people still try to just *call them out of the blue*, no warning whatsoever (lol!).

Many are like you in terms of their jobs though — make calls if they’re more appropriate or when texts won’t translate.

You mention above a quick convo via a call — and that’s not a possibility for me, so I think that’s a big part of why texting is such a relief! People will *not* let me off the phone — and I mean hour long calls when I’ve said I have to go 4 times. I need remedial training on how to get off the phone!
We're all different and have our 'ways' of doing things. We all have that 1 person in our life that just can't do a quick call.
I'm also not a fan of technology, hence the Grenadier, and try to avoid it as much as possible. I'm not young but not too old to have got to grips with technology, my mother is years ahead of me, I just don't like it. I find it takes over your life. I can leave my phone at home (when not working) and I feel far more relaxed. Resisted computers for as long as I could and now my life is stuck staring at a screen.
Not a conspiracy theorist but I do believe the internet has caused and facilitated a lot of evil. There is the good, as in this forum but...

... Then I took one of those ancestry tests and I was mostly British, which totally made sense bc I’m such an Anglophile. Then I was recently on the ancestry site and apparently their data was all recalibrated and now I’m mostly Belgian! Next I’ll be Bora Bora-ian or something.
Happy to hear that you are Belgian, we are the best ... in beer and chocolate ... and we manage the Ineos Automotive spare parts warehouse too. 😉

I took 3 ancestry tests, two confirmed what I knew: half Walloon and French and another half Dutch and Flemish.

Another one was indeed completely flawed: half British, half Dutch, and nothing (0) in France.

And I have my ancestry tree almost complete in all branches till the early 1600! (More than 1000 couples).

If you PM me your last name, I can perhaps tell you if it is rather French or rather Belgian.
