Talking nonsense and general waffle

Honestly I still get the emojis wrong sometimes and my kids usually have to explain it to me, but I just like hitting the little emojis!!! 🤦‍♂️🍆oops now that for sure isn’t the right one!!! 🤣
I come across a lot of articles that explain new meanings of certain emojis and I’m juuuuuuust 😳😱🫣🫢😵‍💫🥴

This is why the subject is so interesting to me — and sometimes funny to me, bc people can feel passionate/adamant about one side or another. If you read threads about it there are a lot of people who are almost offended that people still try to just *call them out of the blue*, no warning whatsoever (lol!).

Many are like you in terms of their jobs though — make calls if they’re more appropriate or when texts won’t translate.

You mention above a quick convo via a call — and that’s not a possibility for me, so I think that’s a big part of why texting is such a relief! People will *not* let me off the phone — and I mean hour long calls when I’ve said I have to go 4 times. I need remedial training on how to get off the phone!
We're all different and have our 'ways' of doing things. We all have that 1 person in our life that just can't do a quick call.
I'm also not a fan of technology, hence the Grenadier, and try to avoid it as much as possible. I'm not young but not too old to have got to grips with technology, my mother is years ahead of me, I just don't like it. I find it takes over your life. I can leave my phone at home (when not working) and I feel far more relaxed. Resisted computers for as long as I could and now my life is stuck staring at a screen.
Not a conspiracy theorist but I do believe the internet has caused and facilitated a lot of evil. There is the good, as in this forum but...

... Then I took one of those ancestry tests and I was mostly British, which totally made sense bc I’m such an Anglophile. Then I was recently on the ancestry site and apparently their data was all recalibrated and now I’m mostly Belgian! Next I’ll be Bora Bora-ian or something.
Happy to hear that you are Belgian, we are the best ... in beer and chocolate ... and we manage the Ineos Automotive spare parts warehouse too. 😉

I took 3 ancestry tests, two confirmed what I knew: half Walloon and French and another half Dutch and Flemish.

Another one was indeed completely flawed: half British, half Dutch, and nothing (0) in France.

And I have my ancestry tree almost complete in all branches till the early 1600! (More than 1000 couples).

If you PM me your last name, I can perhaps tell you if it is rather French or rather Belgian.

You Belgium guys are VERY smooth!! Nicely played. 👍😉😎

Without discussing politics, I don't want any nastiness between anyone but I am interested in which party Grenadier drivers would support. My guess is for America it is mainly Republican and UK would be Conservative or Reform. I can't see there being any Greens, but who knows we do seem to be a varied lot.

Some of us are in the middle of the Venn diagram.
No tribes or cults.
That doesn't surprise me, if none of the above was on a ballot paper and voting was mandatory, I'm sure 'none of the above' party would win every time

In our system you can vote for an independent candidate. No affiliation.

We have them if any are standing in your area but the way our system works it's pointless, they generally don't win or if they do there is nothing they can do as on their own

Best of a bad bunch. Makes me feel better.

I often wonder what makes a person go into politics and be so useless??

I gave up wondering about 30 years ago.
Ineos is the self funded independent I and others hsve voted for.

Australia would surely be Liberals (LNP). But reality is most tradies and union workers who drive such vehicles are Labor supporters... in my lived experience and evidences.

Oooof, after this year’s election it’s hard for me to not just go off the rails over this topic. I gotta say I’m a libertarian, an independent, a democrat, and a republican — all depending on the issue.

In the past, it was always very important to me to keep laws off my body — and that affected my vote. That’s over. I swear if there were attempts to enact laws that govern men’s private parts, those attempts would not even make it to a discussion, let alone law. That the government is making decisions for women in cases of rape and incest — that’s absolutely abhorrent to me.

Crap I went there. I’m sorry. Moderators, please delete if it’s best.

The world does seem to have lost the plot

I might be the only one this waffle applies to; it might confirm I can be a ditz at times. Or it only might confirm this is a very auto savvy group and it’s just me.

What common sense or seemingly intuitive thing did you learn about a car, but embarrassingly late…?

Me — when you look at a car’s gas gauge, there is a subtle little arrow that points toward the side of the car the gas tank is on. NOBODY taught me that! And I suppose it should’ve been intuitive, but nope. Just learned it like 5 years ago.

I have been aware of this for some time but I cannot recall when. I can say with certainty that when I started driving this was not a thing; at least not in my Ford Escort!

To me personally, you never have to apologize for speaking your truth even if I am on the other side of whatever debate is going on. We all have our own opinion and thoughts and even though I am always right, I joke I joke I kid I kid, I never shut out the other side. Heck there are some posters on this forum that I don’t agree with most of the times (couple none Grenadier owners whose almost every post is negative but they don’t even own one) yet I will listen and debate their issues/statements (even if it were about politics or laws etc). Btw, as you are well aware, there aren’t many women on this forum, and I appreciate your perspective on things. Thanks for participating like you do!! 👍🙏
