I have been rescued twice by the AA with a power steering fault caused by a faulty gateway control sensor. You are maybe right in being the first to get rescued but my vehicle broke down on Sunday 11 June was due for AA collection on the 12 th June which didn’t happen as AA were useless I then had to go to work and the vehicle was finally recovered on Friday 16th to take to the dealership. I then had a further power steering fault on Friday 30th June and was collected again by the AA on the 1st July. So had the AA collected me on time I would be able to lay claim to the first to be rescued 😂😂😂View attachment 7819767View attachment 7819768
300kms out west and I would be screwed if this happened!!!

And for the Right Hand Drivers - did your left foot fall off, or did you end up having to use a walking frame after you got out of the car - all due to the left footrest.
Thanks in advance.
i saw comments and YouTube videos about right hand issue and was concerned a bit, i dont even think about it now, for me, it's not issue

Have you checked what your speed warning is set to? Someone found it was set at 15 km/h and that was why they had the "takeoff bong". Apologies if it was you and it's not changeable!
Bruce
Your suggestion has got rid of the annoying bong’ every time I started to drive. Went to <Settings / Vehicle Functions/ Speed warning> and adjusted to 55 mph from 5 mph. Bong now gone. Many thanks. 😊👍

Excellent. I had that feature on my M3 and actually appreciated it because it was so easy to blast past 55 and end up going 90. Doubt the grenadier will earn me many speeding tickets.

I had a bong today when I reached 75mph 😳. A good reminder to slow down although I don’t remember setting that. Steering was fine at that speed and kept a straight line even with one hand on the wheel . Seems to track a straight line with speed with no problems.

Well, they finally delivered mine, a Utility Wagon, diesel, 5 seats, with almost all the extras, they delivered it to me on 13/06/2023, the delivery was very good, Royal Crown is a very serious and professional company, besides, they gave me the car full of diesel.

They warned me that the car would probably have some software bug´s, which I knew thanks to this forum, but not to worry that when I was going to mount the tailgate table and the two roof bars that were not yet, the software update would be done.

And promise kept, the next day the bugs in the central screen appeared, and one more while driving.

sHOuva.jpg

It stayed in engine protection mode, wouldn't let me go above 1500 rpm, although it did let me get to my destination.

So, unless I missed something on the forum, I think I had the “honour” of being the first to use the technical support service, on 15/06/2023.

The service is based in France, but they speak English no problem, and fortunately, also in Spanish, they confirmed that I was the first, they had to check the policy, but in no time they sent me the tow truck.

It is very sad to see the car in a tow truck.

By the way, another thing, which I reported to INEOS; is that the morning of the 15th when the tow truck came, I took the car out of the garage, and almost did not climb the garage ramp, the engine was limited to 1,500 rpm, but the engine failure light was not on, even so undoubtedly the system was in engine failure, this is something that necessarily have to check.

I have to say that, as it could not be otherwise, the treatment of both Ineos Automotive Iberia and the Royal Crown dealer has been very professional.

The fault was an intake sensor, in a couple of days they returned the car, which I have used every day since then, and I have even made a long trip of 1,178 km in the day, without any problems, except for the bugs already mentioned in the forum by other users, mainly “transmission failure”, which is currently the only one that appears sometimes when starting up in the morning, but disappears immediately..

For those who say it handles badly.

It's true, it's not very manoeuvrable, I really thought the first day that I wouldn't be able to park it without getting on top of my wife's car,... but nowadays it's not a problem, if anything, I do one or two more manoeuvres than with my Mercedes V-Class.

As there is already a lot of good information and opinions in the forum, I'm going to highlight only the most striking ones, for me of course.

Kaoywm.jpg

- There is almost no storage space in the cabin.

- I can't explain why there is no grab handle on the driver's side, when I can I will see if I can fit the passenger grab handle from the LHD model.

- The side mirrors, especially the left one, don't cover the area as well as they should.

- The folding handle on the driver's side roof is totally useless, I hope some accessory manufacturer will come up with a glasses holder to fit it here.

- The climate control doesn't deserve to be called that, its operation is, to be kind, erratic.

- They could have put a light in the centre console to see what's inside, but then again, when you consider how they've placed the USBs inside, they might as well not add anything else.

- And as someone else also said, I don't know how they could have passed the key fob approval, because the lock and unlock symbols are pretty much the same.

By the way, I have double battery electric preparation, and activating the switch of the second battery, the power socket in the boot stays connected even when the engine stops, it comes in handy for the fridge.

I am delighted with the car, in the absence of testing it in the field, which unfortunately still take time, I think I made a great purchase, provided that:

- They solve the software BUGS soon.

- Fulfil their promise to publish the complete manual so that we can work freely on our cars.

The car handles on the highway very well, when you get the hang of the steering it is very reliable, and I found the seat to be very comfortable.
Thank you for the nice write-up. Do you find that you need to micromanage when driving on a straight highway? For example, Wrangler needs to do it which I felt tired in long driving.

There are some experiencing issues and other none at all. So, it will just be user preference/comfort factor. I hold high hope comfort remains for my personal use!

Hi willkim

I have a 2016 JKUR 3.6 petrol, with MT 285/70R17 tyres and +2.5" terafle lift kit + adjustable Falcon shock and adjustable steering damper also Falcom.

The grenadier, as they come from the factory, feels more stable than my JKUR with all the improvements, with better steering, but, just like in the Jeep, you have to keep on steering, from time to time you have to make some adjustments, but it's something that doesn't bother me, I'm used to it.

What is noticeable is the turning radius, the Grenadier requires some more manoeuvring than my JKUR.

As for the handle on driver's side, I usually just use the locked steering wheel as a handle. When I test drove the Gren, it was hard to enter when the test Gren had its ignition on and the steering wheel was free motion. But when I hopped into one that was off, it was easier with the wheel locked. Just an observation.

That's how I climb mine, but a handhold on the A-pillar would be nice.

I don't know if this has already been posted, if so please excuse me, but I haven't been able to catch up with the forum yet.

One thing, anyone who has the extinguisher on the passenger seat should check how it is attached, mine was not attached.
The extinguisher fits in a plastic casing, which holds it a little, and there are some fabric straps that with the zipper, is what fixes it firmly to the plastic piece.
In mine the fabric strap was under the seat, caught behind the seat rods, and therefore was not subject, the photo is not very good, but it is appreciated.

I hope mine was the only one.

I have obviously already reported it to Ineos.

Just taken delivery of a diesel Trialmaster. It is like driving a truck in many ways. But very comfortable, acceptable ride (excellent off road), footrest not noticeable and pretty quiet. Windscreen wipers a non-issue. Too early for fuel economy but results so far not alarming. Ecall error message is irritating but not a surprise.

It does seem as though a lot of others’ issues have been resolved before delivery despite a chassis number just above 1,000.

I think it fits my need for defender td5 load capacity, strength and off road capability with the ability to also cover long distances in comfort.

Any ideas on how to have a permanent display of average fuel economy rather than distance remaining?

All these Grenadiers that are now on the road and hardly a few words put together describing first impressions. Photographs are all very well but we want to hear how it makes one feel. What is ones impressions compared to recent journalistic reviews. We are hanging on every word but unfortunately, no words are coming through.
I have now had my Trialmaster for 50 days (1500+ miles) and the smile has never been off my face once! This vehicle has character and already we have bonded. My old Defender 110 had character and over 17 years it and I developed an understanding I knew what it was capable of and equally important, what it wasn't capable of. I am finding that the Grenadier is evoking the same driving pleasures and a feeling that man and machine is as one. Yes, there are some small glitches especially annoying false alarm pop up warnings, but overall this is a well thought through piece of kit. So far most of my driving has been on A roads with little opportunity to get the wheels dirty - but that will come this winter when I pursue my hobby in the Scottish Highlands. Currently two e-bikes loaded for a week away in the north of Scotland! This vehicle makes me smile and at age almost 82 years confirms to me that its not just about the technical stuff, but its also about how it makes you feel!!

Thank you. I had JL 2 Door and found sometimes it is somewhat dangerous. But combining better drivability (shock and spring), I guess it should be better.

Do you plan to add steering damper on Grenadier as well?

I did test drive and agree with you - Wrangler’s turning radius is much better.
