@Jean Mercier thanks for the input. Do you happen to know any of the brands? I’ve read some of your posts so if you have a preference, would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance
Another one:
TMD
or is it
Urban
One of them is probably the manufacturer, because the steps are the same.

I'm struggling to choose between the Side Runners and the Rock Sliders.
The Side Runners seem to take away quite some ground clearance. The Rock Sliders seem to sit a bit higher underneath the vehicle.

What are your experiences with both? Which option will you (probably) choose?
FYI, According to John Caney's latest Youtube video. He discovered a made in China stamp on the rock sliders and the paint is completely gone and steel is rusted on the ends where road debri hits. I will probably LineEx mine when I get it.

If anyone has the factory rock sliders, can you get me 2 accurate measurements.
1 - The ground clearance from the bottom of the lower tube to the ground.
2 - The ground clearance from the bottom of the upper tube to the ground.
Let me know what size rim and tire you are on too.
Working on a potential project with a manufacture...
Thanks, DaBull

Side steps not rock sliders, wasn’t it?

doesn't matter where they were manufactured... JohnC noted that he had accumulated some 5000km on outback dirt roads. Judging from the "spray pattern" on my side runners from a couple of hundred kms over clay roads dampened with light rain, JohnC's rock sliders have been sand blasted by gravel "spray" from the front and rear wheels. No amount of paint or powder coating will prevent this. However some polythene pipe section glued to the underside of the sliders will definitely offer good protection....;)

EDIT: an "extension" piece attached to the front mudflaps for gravel roads would probably also assist in reducing/containing the gravel spray..

Bump - If anyone has the factory Rock Sliders - I would be thankful if you could measure the ground clearance from the bottom of each of the two round horizontal tubes to the ground. Thank You. DaBull

Two points

1/ I saw the video about the steps on YouTube, like @DenisM says, they have effectively been sand blasted and I don’t think anything would have faired well in the same scenario. A positive is I don’t think I could replicate that much wear in 50,000 miles in the UK. A fresh coat of paint should see them right, with the correct prep.

2/ I was discussing the OEM side steps with my agent last week, and he mentioned the IA had told him that their steps actually don’t affect the ramp over angle. As we both said it doesn’t mean they won’t be caught out by an upstanding rock on either side though.

What brand did you go with, and where are they made?
Buzz Overland. Extremely happy with my choice which do a great job at being a proper rock slider but having a very useful and practical step surface under each door.

Apologies, overlooked this. We are on the standard BFG KO2 in 265/70 R17.

Unfortunately I don’t have a measuring instrument in your comedy units of measure, so here we are in centimetres.

Sounds great! Should’ve mentioned that this was with maybe 60-70kg in the loadspace.

Still content with your Buzz sliders?

I’m about to reserve a set. Going to be a bit steep here, but they’re still the ones that appeal to me the most.
