Sick of waiting

I don’t think they Steve from Halliwell would agree with that - considering all the hard work they have put in. As a buyer who has selected Steve, I would be mightily peeved off if I was told that I couldn’t choose him, because he is too good, and I have to go to a second rate dealer - to balance up “allocations”

Turns into May Warden on Fridays

It could be worse.

You might get an email saying they've left your new vehicle in a bog in Albania and you have to go and collect it yourself... 🤭

or even worse left being used as a bog in Albania

That isn't what I suggested if you read - I am *merely presuming* that Ineos expect the dealers to sell X units each, but some may sell more and some may sell less. That said, there is a maximum number of vehicles that can be imported in to the UK in a year, so it doesn't matter how you slice the pie; there is only so much pie to go around!

Great news. I finally got a call from my nominated dealer. Nice guy, obviously cared about the G. Non committal about delivery but keen to find out what I wanted to know. He told me the ineos area rep was visiting him next week. He left me feeling much more comfortable.

I just got this E-Mail: (translation to English to be found below)

It has always been very important to us to keep you informed about the production of your Grenadier. Today we have to inform you about a delay in our production plans.

Supply chain issues affecting the entire industry continue to impact the ramp-up of our production. As a result, delivery of vehicles to our customers cannot now begin until December. Here's our commercial director Mark Tennant with the details.
WATCH THE FILM.
We'll be back in touch with you over the next two weeks to update you on the schedule for delivery of your vehicle. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Don't car manufacturers have to off-set their fossil fueled cars by selling hybrids/electric ones to keep their allocation - effects the large manufacturers rather than the niche small ones. Remember Harry's garage saying something along those lines when reviewing a 911 GT3 recently. Apologies can't find the link but guess there is a limit on what IA can produce without being stung before rolling out an electric/hybrid/hydo models??
Possibly producing a few Smart cars for every Grenadier they make I would have thought? Possibly the lure of Hambach?

Here is the transcript.

"Hello from INEOS automotive
with an update on our progress towards production
and most importantly,
when we'll be delivering vehicles to you,
our future Grenadier owners.
Here’s where we’re up to.
The good news,
is that we will be starting to build customer cars this month.
The less good news,
is that we are still grappling with the supply chain issues
that are afflicting so much of our industry.
What this means is that parts supply
will be really constrained and therefore
so will our rate of build over the next six weeks, or so.
And because of this,
we’ll only really be able to start customer deliveries in earnest
from December.
I appreciate that this is really frustrating for you,
as it is, frankly, for us as well.
We’ve developed a really good vehicle in the Grenadier,
but we just cannot rush this final stage.
So,
an apology for being the bearer of bad news
and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
But also a commitment,
to communicate with you more regularly on latest developments,
because we are all in a very fast-moving environment at the moment.
With this in mind, we will be in touch again in the next two weeks
to tell you what this means for your own vehicle delivery schedule.
Thank you for listening."

We’ll at least they’re being honest and I’m personally not bothered about waiting a few extra months. After all, it’s taken a few years to get to this point…

perhaps it’ll give Ineos a bit more time to set up a factory collection option…

I also understand that not everything is in their control - I am more than happy for them to take time to get it right. I am looking forward to driving the Grenadier on Thursday in Kelso, and also very happy to live with my pickup until the Grenadier is ready.

Ha, I’m still using my yeti to the max…. fantastic little utility car but will be happy to see it replaced by the bigger IG tool.

You're still ignoring the fact that they are not dealers, and they don't have vehicles to sell...

Which dealer was this?

Possibly producing a few Smart cars for every Grenadier they make I would have thought? Possibly the lure of Hambach?
I think they have been turning out more Smart cars than the total planned production for the Grenadier but wouldn't be deemed the manufacturer for the purposes of the fleet emissions legislation.

I had a quick look and found the list of the German authorities (KBA).
Unfortunatly the list ends on June 2022...
So I've now had an official reply to my Freedom of Information (FOI) request:
