Software update done today at Compass Automotive of Bridgewater.
Two hours to do.
Paperwork said “With NATO plug” in comments section.
Both keys reconfigured (don’t forget to take both with you).

Noticed ODO and “remaining miles” have swapped places.

Eerily quiet cockpit on my 40 mile drive home. Beginning to suspect they simply disconnected the bing bong speaker!😁

Great job Compass. They asked straight away if I had any issues or have noticed any unusual sounds etc before going in for the update. Nothing to report.

Hi Gaston
I remember that your windscreen was replaced and you advised the top rubber also be replaced? Could you remind me so that I can tell the windscreen firm please.
Cheers 😎

Hi Mussels.

Indeed my windscreen was replaced along with a new top rubber strip/seal.

This was on the recommendation from the specialist windscreen company that Compass Automotive of Bridgewater have used for many years.
They were the ones that did the first windscreen replacement for a Compass client.
I recall that their comments were that reinserting the original top seal was quite fiddly and was at risk of not fitting correctly due to it having already been removed.

For the price of the replacement screen (£1,200) , the top seal was a few £’s.

The Nationwide Windscreens fitter who fitted my new screen also commented that a new seal was indeed the right way to go.
The whole job took him less time than it took me to fit my folding picnic table (40mins for him, an hour for me!).

Contact Tom (Parts & Service Dept) at Compass on 01278 662836 and he’ll give you any further details.

So some interesting information, mine is in the workshop today getting the Redarc brake controller fitted and an oil change (my choice) they are going to do the USB component of the software upgrade which updates the head unit and likely changes the software version listed on the head unit (will confirm tonight). But apparently the main software update that flashes all the ECUs in the car is still not release ready and still likely some weeks away. Not sure if that’s just for the Australian cars. But possibly some who have reported software updates and new versions may not actually have had the full expected update. I’m speculating here, the USB head unit update may reduce some of the spurious warnings on the touch screen and may shift a couple of functions around, but won’t do any significant system changes on system control modules etc.

Apparently, it will unlock previously locked features such as the ability to toggle the passenger airbag on and off.

T'will be interesting to find out what other previously locked features are unlocked.

Where's @DCPU?

Sorry, I'm trying to clarify : Do you have the NATO outlet socket at the rear (LHS)? If so, with engine running (in park!) and you turn on the overhead console "Power" switch, can you detect any power to the NATO socket terminals with a multimeter?
As currently configured, the NATO socket has no power source unless the optional front winch was installed.. much frustration for those wanting to use it but without a winch.
It's a "hot topic" as to whether the software upgrade included provision for the NATO socket to be powered. I don't have a winch fitted either.... but I want the NATO socket to be powered..when I activate the power switch.
Are you able to confirm yeah or nay?:D:unsure:
Denis....will need to try it out....my multi-meter battery is caput!

I’m wondering if the software update is nothing more than a big patch that turns off all the bongs and bings - doesn’t do anything except take away the noise and flashing lights. 😂😂😂😉

Hi Andrew, how was the patch mate?
Picking up later this afternoon, will let you know. TBH, mine hasn’t been too bad to start with so far.

That was the inference (head unit ok, the vehicle operating system tbd due to corrupt files) I also received a couple of weeks ago. There was a school of thought which advised holding off on the head unit upgrade via "usb" so that it was not "looking" for integrated changes assumed to have been made in the main upgrade....

Like others I too have received the email. Having only picked the Gren up earlier this month and suffering few bings/bongs (1941 software) I'll hold off a bit and see what's what. My main issues are the constant passenger airbag warning, listing to port steering wheel and bloody stupid TPMS warning which blocks half the screen half of the time. Need an OBD tool to re-read the new sensors.

Will look to sort wheel list myself in due course.

GCHQ where are you???

edit: I mean DCPU

The most annoying thing on our car is not the odd random error message, it is the lag on the centre screen when changing between menus, the crap radio (apple carplay permanently in use, so not a problem), the mindless Auto function of the climate control and heater which is rubbish 95% of the time, until it turns the cabin temperature to inferno level but then the slightest adjustment turns it back to freezing. Have any updatees notice improvement to the climate control system?

Still it could be worse, the Discovery 5 broke down this week...

Sadly they weren’t able to do it, so 🤷‍♂️

Got the e-mail and my vehicle is booked for the 11/10/2023 for the software, at least one door seal, look for the water source into the driver's mat and look for the slooshing noise under heavy braking, (which seems to be linked to the water in the driver's footwell).

It's also booked for a first service as the screen is counting down to one, (from 25 days, now 22 days and falling). The service manager says it will be early as it should be 12 months, but oil changes are cheaper than engines, (and if it is using the usual BMW software, it seems to be based on engine starts, as well as time, mileage and hours running).

No software update for me. It was planned on Monday and Tuesday, next to some other recall actions from Ineos, and my steering wheel who was a bit off hook.
But last week on Friday they tried it on one of their own vehicles, and they spent a whole day on it. It seems to be that the procedures to get it done, are not very clear.... Not sure if they succeeded.
I have the impression that at this moment, they really have no idea how to services this vehicle. It's all a bit blurry. Also if you ask, can you add a reverse camera? What about the wiring of the tow hook? They have no answer.
Sometimes I have the impression that we know more about the issues on this vehicle as owners, than te dealers. If you talk about a problems or issues that are well documented all over the forum here, they have never heard about it. (or they pretend not to have heard about it)
I am wondering if there are already trained service mechanics/electricians from Ineos out there?

I think also it could come down to individual dealers, have they the appropriate background for this type of dealership. My dealer has in its "family franchise" both BMW and L/R dealerships, among other, so I am hoping they are well place to have the right skill sets to address Ineos problems.
