I installed this today. Love it.

It's built to house a light in the cubby, and clearly has the opening to hard wire it in (I think). I could stick a rechargeable light there, but has anyone played with piggy backing a light on a hot wire off the harness in the back door?

No rattles (besides the empty folds in my wallet). I use it and the cubby all the time. Easily one of the best ad-ons.

For people asking about ratlles, the unit itself has zero rattles or noises.

Now the cutting board is another story. I had the truck out in the rough last weekend and that poor board got slammed back and forth as the truck was rocking side to side. It's not a deal breaker, but it did get a little annoying.

After a week of trying to figure out how to secure it (because I don't want to take it in and out), I decided to not secure it, but silence it. I put a small strip of adhesive insulation at the back edges of the board on either side. Took it out today and no more banging.

This is some crappy window insulation I had in my garage and it works great, but I had several inches of the weather stripping that came with the table left over. I wish I hadn't thrown that away because it was a lot nicer than this.

Simple irritation, simple fix. Would still 100% recommend this table.

I had the same problem. Different materials react differently to temperature changes. The gap between the wooden cutting board, the metal surface, and the frame will vary from summer to winter.

I also noticed the cutting board can move about a bit and rattle so I applied a couple of rectangular pieces of foam insulation with a sticky butyl backing on the underside of the stainless steel shelf and when you slide the cutting board in the foam takes up the space and holds it snuggly in place. The foam is about 1/8” thick material.

There is a little bit more resistance to slide the table in and out but that is ideal as the foam firmly holds the cutting board in place not allowing it to move around on its own so no rattles at all. Also, as the foam pieces are discreetly stuck underneath the stainless table you won’t see it so it doesn’t spoil the look of the table at all.

Another thought I had and may try is a modification to use a couple of spring tension latches to hold the cutting board in place. If I can find latches sized correctly and look like ones pictured below it might be worth a shot, assuming the tension they provide is enough to hold the board steady. I think a couple of detailed latches like these will match the exposed mechanical aesthetic of the folding mechanism already on the table.

Also, considering experimenting with some kind of shallow stainless steel tension spring not unlike the ones you find to help hold in window screens as you could fit it down inside one of the tracks the cutting board slides through to help hold it in place.

Where did you get foam tape?

I bought it ages ago for another vehicle project as I was insulating the interior of a transmission tunnel after a transfer case swap. I believe I got it at Summit Racing as it comes in sheets. Very handy to have, I’ve used several cuttings from the sheets over the years to quiet down lots of rattles and vibration noises on vehicles.

I believe this is the same stuff it comes in 0.125, 0.250 and 0.500 thicknesses and the thinnest sheet is what I use most. It cuts best with heavy duty scissors or a new utility knife blade.
