I reckon there will be some sound proofing/insulation properties. For me unfort there's no choice but for rubber/rubber:
You can't drive to the opera with that, nor can you drive to an apple store ..., OMG!

Not forgetting that the standard flooring is supposed to be removeable, made of TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) and so quite a hefty chunk of sound deadening in it's own right:

I haven't received a call on this (yet). Will have to look at the configurator. Can't remember how large the carpet mats were. Will they cover most of the floor anyway?

From the configurator, but I don't know if I'd trust them to be an accurate representation of actual coverage...

Not a bad size, if as you say, they are a true likeness. I was forever having to vacuum my Disco Sport carpet, so maybe this won't be a big deal. Don't like the look of the rubber mats personally. TBH I went with carpet thinking it might increase the soundproofing.

If I get a call I get a call. Rubber floor with carpet mats and carpet floor with rubber mats will suit well as good as carpet/carpet

Carpets get manky and smelly. If you buy the car for its intended purpose, you don't want carpets.
Most people don't use it for its intended purpose. They just pretend and want to leave the impression. I recognise off-road vehicles of this species immediately.

What is an "intended purpose" ?

I thought, that a car has the purpose one buys it for, even posing. And not the purpose, somebody else means it should have.

Is there any "real-off-road driver-certificate" without which one does not belong to the off-road elite?
Did I miss something?

Personally I wouldn't install carpet in my kitchen. But that's because I think practically , and don't care what the neighbours think!

I am thinking I might go on a real offroader course so I can get my certificate.
The pre-requisites for attending are
  1. No shaving for 2 weeks before
  2. No showering for two weeks
  3. Dress like a homeless person
  4. Wear extremely large boots with chunky tread filled with dried mud.
  5. 4" lift and 37" extreme mud tyres.
  6. Fill vehicle with spares and junk until it weighs 4,000kgs
  7. Bolt shovels, picks, axes, jerry cans and extra spare tyres to the outside.
  8. Add 260 litres of fuel and 240 litres of water
  9. Drive through every puddle you can find and don't wash it.
  10. Watch 250 Youtube video's so you can regurgitate facts and knowledge as if it was your own.
  11. Stop at Starbucks and pick up a Grande soy almond latte

IDK, I'd give the automotive designers and engineers a bit bit more credit than that.

Indeed IA even claims "built on purpose" in their marketing. The Grenadier being not an entry level car, or economical commuter, or high performance sports, or luxury cruiser, or something else, but "a true utilitarian 4x4 built for the 21st century".

Sure buy it and use it (or don't) or whatever reasons you want but know that it is being built well suited to do certain things.

I think the Grenadier is definitely
an entry level high end 4wd/suv when compared to BMW, Mercedes GLE/G Wagon. Landcruiser 300, LR Defender
Reasonably economical when compared to other commercial/robust 4wds
High performance sports when compared to old Defender, LC70 series, Dual cab utes
Luxury cruiser when compared to old defender, LC70 series, Dual cab utes, G wagon
But as you say is also a true utilitarian etc etc

@painter

I know what the Grenadier is. And there was not a single word about what the designers did and why they did so.

But my post was in reference to the post before it, in which other owners are denied having a Grenadier for the right purpose.

That reminds me a lot of some hunters I know who think that only they have the "right" motivation to drive a defender.

And I think that's just poor.
