I have used them in the past. I gave them the details of what Ineos are recommending - just thought it's worth a punt as they are excellent experts and their prices are good!

First oil change for the Gren is in the books . 1000 miles deayed from when i wanted to do it but anyway . As fas as oil changes go it’s pretty easy like any bmw . Tools you will need :

Torque wrench for the housing 25Nm if you believe in these things .
Extension of your choosing ( housing is pretty deep )
32mm socket for oil housing (any 32mm will do)
17mm socket for the sump plug
Wrench to turn them with
Pick to get the o ring out of the filter housing
You may need also a universal joint the housing is at an odd angle and your extension might hit the fuse box on the side of the wing ( i got away with it with wobble extension ) .

if your are doing your own oil expect to burn your hand on the engine. Don't ask me how i know .

Factory filter . Same marking exactly as the one in the kit i posted above .

Exchange o-ring on housing ( use a pick easiest way i found )

Then place housing back and torque to 25Nm .

The sump plug is 17mm . Sorry forgot to check the thread pitch i know someone will ask . My bad .

When taking the sump plug make sure the crash washer comes with it . The factory uses an aluminium one instead of copper and it usually stays on the pan . Make sure to remove it before putting the sump plug back in .

Oil fill for the diesel is 7.1L at least that is how much i put in it and it seemed to like it .

When measuring the oil level the car likes all doors to be closed , on level ground , and in park or neutral .

It revs a bit up to 1.1k and takes about 40 seconds .

No you should not use the old one , they are single use item . A new One comes with the oil filter which is copper instead of aluminum .

It's always good practise to fit a new washer, usually specified by most manufactures these days.

I’ve been looking through the all the oil manufacturer websites in Australia this week and none of their vehicle finder lists have Ineos as a manufacturer. Penrite however allows you to search by specification and the following oil seems to meet the requirements for the diesel engine.

SupercheapAuto lists the Grenadier on their parts list, but when you go to the pentrite oil it says it doesn't fit the Grenadier. Go figure.

Interesting that of all the vehicles/manufacturers it lists for that oil, BMW isn’t amongst them.

Seriously how hard is it to find an oil that suits. There should be some firm clarification from Ineos Australia I would hope. There are people that have changed oil in Oz by now surely.

To date they have not released any info on the Inoes which means we are not yet in a position to offer a recommendation.

But this below and others meet the specs and that is all that is required. I'll be using the below 5W30.

I changed my oil filter this week and used the Penrite C2. It's a great Aussie engine oil.

Hard work finding it though - I just searched Repco, Autopro, Autobarn and Supercheap Auto - none have it.

Buying it from Ebay hardly makes it readily available my friend. One would hope it’s available on the ground at retailers or other shops in need, particularly given at this point there aren’t too many Ineos dealers around.
That’s on the assumption dealers actually have any for sale outside their own servicing needs.

It would be interesting to see if BMW dealerships have what we need. Get your wallets out for that one.

As noted in an earlier post it meets the BMW LL-12FE spec that Ineos requires for the diesel. Unless Ineos explicitly say not to use it I think it should be safe To use

definitely not my forte but 0w-30 seems like slightly sticky water to me. 5w-30 appears like might give better protection.

all in the name of fuel economy and reduced emissions, to hell with engine life........bring back Castrol GTX

not in my experience.I could buy bmw LL01 oil cheaper from BMW than any other place And the filterss too ( 20 yrs ago )

En respectant les spécifications SAE 0/5W-30 BMW LL-12FE pour le moteur Diesel

On trouve les huiles suivantes (en 0W-30) (entre autres marques)




L'huile Petronas Syntium 0W30 DG spécifiée dans le manuel pager 214, semble inrouvable.
Quelle huile peut remplacer la PETRONAS introuvable ?
