8500 miles on the clock here and I got the error. Was able to clear it with my Foxwell code reader.

I’m not sure if the range calculator is affected. I’ve only had the CEL happen once and once cleared things seemed normal. One crappy thing-if a CEL is on, cruise control will not work. It’s annoying. I understand why they do that but it’s annoying nonetheless.

I never used my cruise control, until today! Tried it on a 45mph stretch and it seems to work pretty well.

I'm with @AwbunBradon -- the AD410 did not clear the PO461 code. But it DID trigger a power steering failure warning! Turned the truck off, let it sit, restarted, no power steering warning. ...

I didn't top off, didn't over tighten the gas cap (that I know of?) -- just the normal fill up routine. But thanks to you guys I knew immediately what was wrong... I wonder how many OBD readers I get to buy and return before finding one that works...

Stupid light came up again after refueling. I bought a 5010 Inova at O’Reillys (great service, they DoorDash the stuff!) and could not clear it. I actually got the steering light going too but was able to make that one go away.
I will try tomorrow with my local BMW expert friend. I am sure he has more sophisticated scanners.
I shall report.

Btw to those of you that occasionally deal with haters like my wife "how can a $90k car have to be hacked with a scanner?", I had to remind her our Tesla model Y had a problem closing doors for the first three months because the software was miscalibrated
These growing pains are not uncommon with new cars, more so with a new brand.

I bought an Innova 5010 from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $38 and it will clear the code. I'm 2+ hours from the dealer so it was cheaper than a tank of gas.

Got the CEL after a fill up yesterday. I did not top it off. I was able to clear the code with my Autel code reader. Once I cleared the code everything returned to normal. I had the vehicle in ACC mode when I cleared the code. Typically that is where it needs to be to clear codes on most vehicles.

I was able to clear mine with a Carista unit I had laying around. It said it could not clear it on their app, but on next engine cycle the warning light was gone.

My brother is still getting the CEL after every fill up. He is not topping off and is giving the cap one click. CEL every time apparently.

Same error message that he clears until he needs fuel again.

I am super excited about this forum. My light came on just after getting gas so I felt pretty comfortable that’s what it was from.

No changes in driving or anything like that. I searched check engine light and came upon this thread.

Having never done a diagnostic test like this, I went ahead and ordered from Amazon last night. The reader came today and with no knowledge and how this works, I was able to plug it in and go through the system in a matter of minutes and the light is now off, and it was definitely a fuel code.

I agree, the best $21 spent. I’m gonna keep this in the center cubby box cause I’m sure it’ll happen again, but the peace of mind of driving around with that dumb light on is priceless.

Just had our CEL come on immediately after fueling up. The only difference this time was I filled up half way through a tank not completely empty. Hoping when the OBD2 scanner arrives tomorrow I can confirm that’s the issue and clear it.

Yeah as soon as you have a CEL/MIL no cruise
