Thanks for the Amazon link. I have attached a couple of images. The rack is about 2 months old and it has been raining a lot here in the UK. 😞
HI Grey Wolf, You also might consider ordering some blackened stainless steel screws to replace those on the bison rack and then use the Tuf-Gel and you
will be about a bullet proof as you can be. Even though I am in the USA, I have ordered lots of fasteners from this company that is in England as they are
the only ones that have the selection of blackened stainless fasteners that I use from time to time. I highly recommend them. They are a great resource.
Here's 2 links, the first is for a search on their website for blackened stainless steel and the second is just their website.
There are 2 grades of stainless fasteners, A2, which is type 304 Stainless, which is very good against corrosion.
If they have the fasteners you want in type A4, which is type 316 Stainless, that is even better and often referred to Marine Grade. If you live in a salty marine air
environment, see if they have what you want in A4 and if not if they will get some for you and blacken them too.

Thanks DaBull, I have ordered some bits from Accu in the past as they have a lot of specialist metric parts. I appreciate your help. Hopefully Bison gear will make changes to the bolts supplied as the rack is great quality. 🍺

Agreed, that’s not galvanic corrosion by the looks of that photo.
So it is just rust ? I live about 10 miles inland from the sea and have never had car parts do this before. Perhaps just low grade powder coated screws. I will send Bison Gear and email to see if they have any ideas. 👍

Excellent quality from Bison Gear. The weight of each item (left and right wheel storage and full width boot shelf) told me this is well made.

I fitted the left and right ones (had to thread blind through the boot cover) and thought would just offer the shelf up, fully expecting the brackets to need modification at the least or modifications of new brackets to take into account the half height cargo barrier which I have fitted and must remain.

I needn't have worried, to my surprise the shelf fitted perfectly with the minimal bodge. The shelf side brackets are supplied with bolts and spacers. Simply substitute the forward bolt spacer for a couple of thin washers to make the difference and hey presto!!!

Ps. I would have no hesitation buying further products from BG. Early days, so can't speak for quality/longevity but glad I went for these rather than some Aliexpress specials. Nothing against them but after 1 week the front light guards are rusting. You pays your money....

Took the Grenny out today to go and pick up a tent. About a 6 hour round trip and the first time I‘ve been out with it since putting on the Bison roof rack.
Very impressed with the minimum amount of noise. I found it‘s barely acoustically noticeable until getting to around 105 km/h after which a slight whistling starts.
On the way back were driving head on in to window and the wind deflector started making a pretty loud vibrating noise. Enough to take my foot off and drop down from around 105 km/h to 90 km/h until we‘d left the windy spot. Did a quick pit stop and took a look but all looked fine.
I wouldn‘t take away from the general quality of the roof rack (well who would once they‘d bought one, eh?) but one thing struck me was that perhaps a slightly thicker gauge metal for the wind deflector would avoid this. Perhaps also an additional couple of bolts attaching the deflector to the roof rack might stiffen it out a bit as well.
Anyway my 2c and since I work in software not mechanical engineering I‘m way off from being able to provide an expert opinion.
But thought I‘d throw that out there just in case of any past or future similar experience.

Hello @Grey Wolf

It appears that you received regular steel bolts instead of the stainless-steel ones used for all our roof racks.

Please email us at contact@bision-gear.com with photos of the bolts you received. We will promptly send you the correct stainless-steel bolts.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. In the future, please contact us directly we stand behind the product :)

Roof rack is sold with blacked stainless-steel bolts. In this particular case there was a mistake on packaging and wrong bolts were packed (probably this happens only on this one unit). We will provide correct bolts to the customer. In the future, please contact us directly.

I agree partially: it is always good to post problems on the forum as a feedback to other users.

And to tell the user that the seller reacts appropriately, This is also good publicity for you!

I had a similar problem with my Buzz Overland rock sliders, and they reacted appropriately

We've been considering the BG Cargo Shelf after seeing it installed in someone else's vehicle but aren't certain we can make it work with our rear seats. We've installed the chineseum brackets that cant the seats backward a bit and Ineos fitted full-sized front headrests to our rear seats. Can anyone confirm that there's enough room to have the large headrests raised without hitting the cargo shelf? Thanks.

I have the APB shelf which is very similar to the BG version. No issues or clash with the Chinese seat recliners.

Thank you! We'll pull the trigger just as soon as we have our other ducks in a row.
I think you are referring to a different headrest in the rear rather than the ones we have in the UK that can be pushed down lipping over the backrest. I don't think we have that choice. I have the Bison version that can be adjusted back and forth slightly but not sure how it would affect yourself.

Thank you and, yes, different headrests on our NA model. The left & right 2nd row headrests match the full-sized fronts which are now even larger than earlier production - believe it or not. Melvill & Moon are making four new headrest covers to fit both our 1st and 2nd row headrests. Luckily our center rear headrest is the "lip over" type. The larger headrests do lean forward a good bit compared to the angle of the legs.

I'm wondering if I could make some simple extension brackets to move the shelf rearward a few inches?

If worse comes to worst we could always purchase a couple of the smaller headrests. The Mrs. has (shockingly) requested a rear-facing camera so I'm free to clutter up the cargo space as much as I want now.
