Destination fee is just a quirk of the US market. Even Tesla orders have it appended after MSRP. Its designed to average out shipping costs so that all dealers have a similar cost basis.
I don't think anyone has true issue with destination charges.... insane dealer doc fees on the other hand....

I have one of the 50 VINs assigned to Knauz in Chicago. Per dealership they will be selling at MSRP, no dealer markups.
Let me know what your experience is with Knauz. I my build sheet will be finalized in November, for a Q1 2024 delivery. So far I have no complaints with them.

I asked Jason about pricing. They’re selling for MSRP plus $1600 destination he states they just found out about from Ineos when they had dealer day. Also a $999 doc fee…
Might as well call the 1k “doc fee” for what it really is…ADM.

So much for being early supporters and getting a true MSRP deal. I wonder how the dealer in ATL is charging its customers? I’m about halfway between the two dealers.

Atlanta said no doc fee, but will charge for dealer-installed accessories (chequer plates, etc.).

@Krabby do you know what RDS has said about MRSP, destination and doc fees? I didn't ask Michael when I spoke with him and don't want to bother him with a question that's probably already been asked and answered.

MSRP + destination, doc fee is capped in PA ($443 if memory serves me)

@bmore_burnsy

Yes, as Anand said, doc will be capped at $449.

Taken from PennDot: On January 12, 2023, the maximum allowable documentary fee increased to $374 for processing title work manually and $449 for processing title work online. The documentary fee is non-taxable; may be excluded from a dealer’s advertised price for the sale of a vehicle; is a negotiable item, so the actual dollar amount may not be pre-printed on the buyer’s order; is a dealer-imposed charge, not a state-mandated fee; and must be disclosed on a sign in the dealership."

Odd that the online processing costs more, since it's quicker, easier, and less labor intensive for all involved. But, that's the government for you!

There is also a $1,600 destination (delivery) fee (as there is on all cars).

On top of those, you will pay sales tax, registration and title fees (and any other things your particular state might require). I believe that is it.

I do not have any accessories that require deal fitment but I believe there will be charges for those items as well. Well I did get the floor mats but if they attempt to charge labor on that, I'll pass and "install" myself 🤣

As @Krabby mentions, I can confirm that Michael did say they will indeed be charging labor for any accessory installs.

However, Michael told me on the phone (not in writing) that they will be selling at MSRP (with tax, title, and registration on top), but as far as I can recall he didn't say anything to me about the $1600 destination fee.

I know.

I work in the automation industry, focusing on automobile plants. I’ve literally had vehicles built as I walked down the line with them.

Grenadier purchasers in the United States will quickly fall into two categories.

People that want their vehicle dealer supported, or people that view the grenadier as an item that doesn’t require dealer support. One group is willing to pay a couple thousand dollars added onto the stickered price after waiting four years, and the other group is unhappy about it.

At the moment, about the best that can be done for the people that don’t want to pay extra fees, is to identify the lowest cost dealer, and then when it comes time to place their order, announced that they are willing to switch to that dealer, unless the person across the table from them decides to waive the fees.

I’ve never purchased a bare-bones vehicle, and then had to pay the dealer whatever their labor rate is, to put my car together. That’s a new experience for me. I’m perfectly capable of installingAll of the dealer add-ons in my shop. Excluding stuff that requires computer programming.
The primary allure of the grenadier, in addition to the styling, was the ease of repair, and ability to use it in remote locations without needing a nanny.
Anyway it will all work it’s way out over the next few months.

Here’s a question for reservation holders/ pre orders that have “in production” and have been in contact with their nearest dealer.. is it even possible to change delivery dealer at this point? Probably not. Just curious.. which means us “in production” are at the mercy of the pre assigned dealer.

@evomind d I didn't ask about fees at Warner (West Valley / SLC, UT) but I'm not playing with CA laws and taxes. GM Cory was really nice when I called on dealer day. I'm not seeing anything in NM (?). That would definitely be the closest if there was one there.

SLC to Tucson is a good drive. I've done it a couple of times in both directions. Oddly enough, only on motorcycles. You can take the sure thing Interstate and overnight in Las Vegas, or take the middle route (Hwy 89) through Page and the Grand Canyon, for a more scenic journey or go more east and hit Moab (Hwy 191). 191 would be the longest travel time. Pretty scenic route, but higher elevation N of Safford. I was on 191 early one October and it was already snowing, plus it's a twisty road with cliffs / drop offs and no guard rails in many spots. May not even be open, depending on when we get our Grenadiers.

I'd imagine you'd have to call Ineos NA and ask about the dealer swapping. Not sure what impact if any, it might have on delivery dates.
Do you have the contact number for the SLC dealer?
I think I'll call them and get a breakdown to see if they are charging a "handling fee." lol
For 700 bucks I might go there.

From what I can gather from Ineos reps, if your vehicle is not yet in production (or not yet "about" to enter production), then it is allegedly possible to switch dealers.

I contacted Ineos today about switching from Triad to Regal to avoid their $999 doc fee (I'm going to be flying to pick it up anyways, and I'd rather pay the extra in gas than have it go to a dealer's "not markup" markup. Then again, if Triad can explain what documentation process takes 40hrs of labor for someone making $25/hr to justify a $999 fee, then I may be willing to work with it.

With all that being said, I certainly don't have my hopes up that a switch is possible (I'm a mid 10xxx pre-order number, so I know I'm supposed to be entering production within the coming days/weeks)

Got this reply from Regal regarding the $1,600 Destination Fee:

“Yes that's the destination charge that INEOS has for all Grenadiers. As far as I know it doesn't show in the MSRP but will be on the final sticker like other vehicles in the US.”

At the Dirtfish event I was told once you had a VIN the dealer was set as that vehicle is allocated to them.

Same seems to be the case currently, as I don't have a VIN, but as per Ineos, I should have one within the coming days/week, so I may be too close in the process to switch to another dealer

I suggest you email your question to customerservice@ineosgrenadier.com.
Sounds like a passive aggressive response.. especially from someone who has made posts here stating that your exchanges with ineos had either no answers or directed you to contact the dealer.

Sorry if my question annoyed you 🤷‍♂️

Was hoping a thread that has people talking about swapping dealers would maybe have first hand information.. maybe I was naive to think this..

*insert next passive aggressive response now
