5 Year Trip in a Grenadier Across the World towing a Patriot X3 Which We Live In.

I love your videos! It’s really great to see videos and content where you’re using the truck vs talking about equipment. I’m as interested in gear as the next person, but sometimes it seems there’s more talk about attaching and modifying and not nearly enough using it! :)

Phenomenal location, footage, and storytelling. You two are just getting better and better at bringing us along on this amazing journey. Thank you.
Cheers Ben! Our plan is to make each video a little better than the last. It obviously depends on the location and footage and what happens along the way but we’re always learning! Glad you’re enjoying the ride! 👍

Thanks for this! Glad you’re enjoying them! I’ve always been more about getting out there and just making it happen! Modifications are great and are down to personal choice and use case but with the Grenadier, there really isn’t too much you need to do for a trip like ours hence why we went with our Trialmaster in the first place. This video Ronny Dahl has just done sums it all up rather nicely. His conclusion is spot on.

I really enjoyed this video too. "A bit bumpy"...too cute!

Any issues or repairs you had to do along the way?
Glad you enjoyed this one! Jack and Charlotte are always cracking us up with their one liners.

As for the Grenadier, we’ll eventually get around to doing this video where we’ll talk you through it all but the important thing is there’s not been anything major.

I’ve just done a podcast with Scott Brady on The Overland Journal Podcast (connected to Overland Journal and Expedition Portal) where we discuss this a bit. It’ll be out soon. I’m keeping tabs on everything on the forums and FB groups and trying to be as preventative as possible in terms of maintenance. We’ve not had anything that hasn’t already been mentioned somewhere by another owner. I’ll put a full summary up soon so that people can learn from what we’ve experienced so far and what we’ve done about it. 👍

@Matt P do you play around with tyre pressures much? The K02s look like they are coping fine with the rocky terrain.

That is correct, we went for petrol for simplicity! We’ve met quite a few people on the road having DPF issues…
Thanks Matt. Just fyi:
+ I added the Ineos diesel/water filter to the fuel line but I didn't notice any water in the diesel in Algeria
+ No issues with the DPF that i know of. The Gren (well really the BMW B57) does not have a DPF regen indicator (two guys on the Algeria trip had latest Hilux and Ranger and both have visual indicators on the dash to show DPF in operation).
+ The other Eu6 diesels definitely used a lot more adblue than me and they were using depetane and I was using a different additive
+ Error message from OBD attached ( I was able to get around the issue by deleting the error and mixing some European diesel into the tank from time to time). No reoccurance since I got back to Europe

Keep posting those videos!

How are you getting on with that snap on code reader? Have you found any codes it couldn’t clear? Can it reset the service warning?
Thanks

Hi Tom - It was belonged to a friend of mine. It could not auto identify the Grenadier but I set it for BMW 5 series B57 engine model similar to what my Gren has and it worked fine for clearing B57 NOX errors. I have ordered an MX+ which I will use going forward.
