Harry’s Farm and Garage. Why does Harry Metcalfe hate the Grenadier?

Clearly traditional Defender owners and Jaguar owners are not enough of a customer base to survive.
Correct...they have thrown the baby out...we grew up loving the style of both vehicles...have another look at the front end, they have turned a Jaguar into a squinting Pink Panther :ROFLMAO:

Considering he works or has a deal with JLR I'm taking anything that come from him with a pinch of salt. Releasing this at art week in Miami...shows you the way they want to go with the brand.

I love old jags - I had three of them as wedding cars including a Mark X and Mark II.

An E Type in my garage would be a bucket list event.

But I reckon they missed the mark (pardon the pun) when they relaunched in the 1990’s (was it really that long ago??). They tried to build replicas of their 1960-1970’s models and they just didn’t look right in my opinion.

The Jaguar brand died with the XJS in my view. It should have gone away gracefully rather than be resurrected by Ford then Tata who I think never got it.

JLR has said that they are only expecting 20% of their business from traditional owners.
Pretty much as their decision with the Landrover.
Just a business decision to increase volume and make money.
That is perfectly OK.
Just don't tromp on the past

I think it’s far worse than that - it’s not that the traditional owners are not enough - they already lost the traditional owner. It’s been a zombie brand for years. This is an admission of defeat masquerading as edgy and revolutionary- a desperate cry for attention from a company selling a product nobody wants. Since they have no good ideas on how to resurrect the legacy of the brand, they think the best option is to burn it to the ground and have to be intensely provocative in their design and positioning to have ANY relevance in the future. But at the end of the day, this is just a sad, aging divorcee with implants and lip fillers looking around at the bar for her date who will never arrive, blinking back the tears of embarrassment because she is alone and knows everyone is laughing at her.

which bar is this poor lady at, I could do with a pint?

To me it looks a bit like a newer era Rolls Royce with different proportions.
The design language looks like it borrowed heavily from Rolls Royce spectre

To me it doesn't have enough personality, and it doesn't call out that it's a special car its a touch too much of a clone to make it sing out as being an inhouse innovation.

The concept vehicle looks quite striking, but most concept vehicles do.

Not sure where you could mount a hi-lift jack.

If the Spectre and a Roomba made a baby???

I have had a great love (hate) affair with my many Landrovers and still enjoy my 1968 2a restoration , but I want a strong and reliable truck to take way out bush and the Grenadier fits the bill today and for the future. Yes its quirky and I get odd looks but its what I want - JLR now have a new market just as I have a new brand. Just hurry up with the .....!@#$% Workshop Manual!!
