Especially in California! One has to ask... How?
The edison kit removes the existing drivetrain and replaces it with electric motor driven solid axles powered by a battery bank. There is an onboard generator driven by a cummins 2.8 L diesel to recharge the battery bank. Propulsion is totally electric and similar to a diesel electric locomotive the only function of the diesel is to power the generator. What you end up with is the look of a classic vehicle with a very modern drive train that was designed with right to repair as foundational with the design and execution. In your particular case I suspect CARB will be quite enamoured with it as it is an electric vehicle.I have a 2010 defender 110 in California and have owned it since new. My grenadier is allegedly “in the port” but kinda to your point it’s not a whole ton better at all…. The only thing pushing me to it really is the fact that my lr puma 2.4 engine is totally unreliable and the AC is soooooo beyond bad it’s a joke. So really just two very small things. Do not fall for the dream of an old defender…. They’re so incapable compared to modern cars it’s not funny.
