Well, I’ve got an engine light, probably due to gas overfill. Is there a consensus on the best OBD reader for the IG?

I ordered this one today, I'll test it, if I like it I can get it for $65.00 on Aliexpress.
I have a engine light and will delete the code. I hooked up IOBox Tuner..along with the IOBox Pedal for Grenadier. It is amazing. A sensor on the engine got loose, I did lock it down, however it comes loose. I used a small zip tie to lock it in place. When I have it serviced the dealer can change it. I think its a good Idea to be able to clear codes when needed. I used it this morning and cleared 6 codes very fast. It was not even set to BMW, I left the setting on Generic. I ordered one for $65.00 this morning. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...st_main.5.74dd585aF1lGk5&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

The MX Just has expanded features for other vehicles. Given I work on a lot of cars it’s nice to have the option. It also helps future proof you. Who knows what the Grenadier requires. So $50 now or more later. But than again nothing in life is guaranteed so who knows.
Many Thanks.

I've decided to take the plunge on an MX+ and ordered one from Amazon this morning. Will report how it goes once I've had a chance to play with it.

Cheers
Steve

I have the MX+ combined with OBD Fusion on my phone and can confirm that it works seamless with the Grenadier. OBD Fusion works via Carplay and will show you PID info that is customizable. You can also see and clear codes as needed. What you cannot do via Cayplay is view the gauges that you can setup on a phone or iPad.

Excellent, GL! I’ve been happy with ours, does the things and very easy to use.

One question:
Did somebody check already, if it is possible to reset the service indication (appears after one year in the middle display) with the ANCEL BM700 or MX+?
I did my service intervall by myself (oil change etc) after one year but I am not motivated to drive to the next INEOS dealer to reset it there (more then 90km),

No you can’t. Unfortunately it’s a trip to the dealer.

Got the Mx+ late yesterday. Took out the Gren today.
-The OBD port is on the drivers side, pointing downwards, fairly hidden. Not in the fuse box.
-It seems that it like the car ‘on’ but the engine not running
-I hit the pair button and let the OBD Link software link to it
-I paired it in my iPads Bluetooth setting, but it seems to rather want to link through the software. Takes a minute once you select it.
-I used an iPad not associated with my IG. I didn’t want to link my phone to the IG and the MX+ at the same time.
-Blue tooth is alwasy wonky.
-OPened and registered
-Looked at error codes, saw the one for the overfill gas. Told it to clear. It did, but there were like three instances, it cleared two, but left one, the ‘permanent’ one.
-check engine light still amber, when I started engine, it went away when I started the car.

Dashboards don’t seem to work.

Can you leave the OBD attached all the time, or is it better to unplug it?

You can leave the MX+ plugged in all the time. It shuts down if there is no connection to a phone or tablet and does not draw any power. I have no issue with the phone, MX+ and Grenadier all connected at the same time. Works perfectly via Carplay but it is not necessary to use it that way. I have not tried using the Dashboards on a phone on tablet, but they will not work via Carplay because of Apple restrictions.

So I cleared the code. My normal start-up, I turn the key to get the electronics on, and wait until the airbag light goes off. I was told that is a sign that the first steps are done. At that point a few lights are still on, including the check engine. When I start the engine, the lights go off, with the ‘check engine’ amber light the last one to extinguish. I can’t remember, is that normal?

As I said the MX+ still sees a permanent code for the fuel sensor. Is that why the light stays on a bit, or is it just natural?

The "check engine" light is the last to go off when starting my Grenadier and it has never thrown a code. Seems to be the standard sequence of things.
