Winters coming off and AT’s going back on.

I managed to nab a set of 4x steel wheels and the Bridgestones for £400 on eBay recently. I’m going to have a set of wheels with the BFG AT’s and a set with my winters. Unfortunately the new wheels don’t have tpms sensors the tyre fitter reckons he can clone some universal ones to make them work.

Anyone in NE Scotland like a set of oem unused Bridgestone AT’s?

I spent the day from 8am to 5-30pm driving mainly dirt country roads in light to moderate rain from Brisbane to Tenterfield in NSW. About 395km all up. What a wonderful day.

The Wombat performed exceptionally well, although there was no four wheel driving as such, although the greasy clay roads got slippery enough to warrant engaging the CDL a few times along the way.


Had a particularly hairy moment at one point though when we came across a local gang who we thought were trying to carjack us. Quick thinking and talk of rare steak sorted that out though.

A reminder of history past along the way - tank traps along the Brisbane Line left over from during WW2 along the track as well.

Hi Michael, yes I did. I made it out of a metal sign I got from work. Its pretty much the same as the BAS template here on the forum but I clamped it at the front end with existing bolts and drilled rubber spacers.
It turned out really well and solid as a rock.

First one there is looking rather "heavy" - carrying an "extra load" ;)
Quite timely with anniversary of 6 June around the corner - always fascinating to learn about history!

Interestingly, or maybe not, most of these words pre-date the automobile.
A trunk was literally a trunk strapped on the back of a horse drawn cart. Where you kept your boots?
A hood was and is the fabric over the top of the cart, it was also the fabric that was in front of your legs to keep the rain off.
A truck was a flat bed cart in the US, in the UK it was called a lorry.
A car was a cart specifically to carry people.
A buggy was a lightweight 2 wheeled cart.
The word gasoline was arguably a reaction to a copyright originating in Ireland. Similarly tyre in the UK was spelt (wrongly) that way due to a potential copyright.
By the way, William Shakespeare didn't write centre, he spelt it center.

Sorry gone way off topic.

Installed a Victron battery charger to keep batteries floating when I am traveling and the Grenadier is not in use.

It wedged in perfectly just in front of the Ctek 120s using some foam. Put some double sided tape between the Ctek and Victron so they are stuck together for good measure.

The Victron IP22 can also function as a power supply if needed when at a camping site that has 120v power.

Just need to decide now if I want to install a NOCO GCP1 somewhere on the exterior so I don’t need to keep the window open to be plugged in.
