I have no experience in 3D printing but i knew we had five 3D printers at work (i approved the purchases). I walked over to over mechanical engineering team with the file and asked them if they could print it for me, ideally in orange. They looked the file and told me this would be easy to print.
I have no idea what resolution etc we are using at work, i suspect its very good because its a pretty minute difference between our injection molded parts vs our printed parts we use in the prototyping process.

They told me it would take 48 hours to print this on the printer so they would do it over a weekend. they said that the part doesn't use very much filament so it should be fine. I was kind of surprised how long it would take given your comments about a couple of hours.

I asked how much the printer was to see if they put me on some old obsolete printer, but they told me it was a 2022 model year printer that cost about $50K in the base version but they had it upgraded to about $70k. Its significantly larger than the printers i've seen pictures of in this thread.

They had some much smaller printers as well but they said those wouldn't be ideal for this print job. The guy in charge of the mechanical engineering department told me that seeing the picture in the cubby was helpful for them to determine how they where going to print this. They said that they will probably fire this off over thanksgiving since the printers won't be used for other stuff over the long weekend.

If its not obvious, I'm kind of clueless at deep mechanical engineering. Lets talk software or Electrical engineering and i'm in my comfortable space.
They are probably printing in ABS at a slow speed so the quality and strength will be superior.

Mainly for the RHD crowd (but still will work with LHD): been playing with my new 3D printer and produced an accelerator pedal extension that raises the pedal surface 35mm. Still need a few tweaks but the basic concept works.

I drove a Grenadier today about 300 klms for a mate who had some work done to his vehicle. while I have driven one for maybe 20 min or so the 3 hours in the saddle made me aware of a few things, firstly is the accelerator pedal which is out of reach if you want to relax and stretch your legs on a long journey, THIS would be fantastic👆

My 3D printer should be here today or tomorrow. I'll probably set it up Friday (after Thanksgiving) and see if I can get a decent print. It apparently takes a day or two, but I'll DM you when I have finished ones that are satisfactory. Orange or black?

Final version, I reduced extension height from 35mm to 22mm and it now slips tightly over top of pedal and clips on the base. I have found the foot rest tolerable but the offset and recessed accelerator pedal bugs me daily (I find I catch the side of my shoe behind the brake pedal). The 22mm lift makes my driving position more comfortable. Fast print in PLA Pro, 0.25mm layer, 10% fill, printed upside down with tree supports 70 degree overhang.

I wonder if there are any legal issues with that in the case of an accident- contributing or not.
Not a criticism just thinking out aloud.
I am sure it is not legal (insert legal disclaimer here: in no way am I encouraging its use by others). But several times I have caught the edge of my shoe sole on the back of the brake pedal with the standard setup, I find it less than ideal and potentially dangerous in an emergency situation.

The design clips securely under the lower edge of the pedal and is quite tight on the top. I considered having a screw or bolt that could also secure it to the pedal but found it was not necessary (and easier to remove relatively quickly if required).

In the US the owner of a vehicle has the right to modify the vehicle. The "do not modify" order from nhtsa does not apply to changes you make to your own vehicle.

Overseas there may be different rules.

I think there are regulations and design rules here about pedal extensions and usually require professional fitting and certification by an engineer.

I am planning to build a kitchen drawer system. I know it is quite a large kitchen but I am a foodie and love to cook outdoors. Here is my plan so far. It will be built from birch plywood in 21, 15, 12 and 8mm. The weight of the setup is my biggest concern. What would you change? I am thinking about adding a foldout bed on top. Hmmm...

Hi Chrsb, I like your layout on this. It appears that there is a left and right side, which would allow it
to be more easily removed if needed. The layout as you pointed out, would also allow for an extension for a sleeping platform. Keep us up to date on your build with photos and measurements too. DaBull

@chrsbe i did build one campbox with a sleeping platform for my wrangler. I loved to overland with it. But yes it was pretty heavy… I think it was around 32kg +10kg for sleeping option. But I learned from it and in the winter I’ll build one for the grenadier. I’m thinking about to use „queens plywood“ it is very light for it strength. Also I’m planning to buil it more modular this time so I have not to lift the whole one if I’m removing it.
