Not with that brand , but as it says on the product literature , it is well suited to the task at hand.
Sika is in Germany the benchmark for automotive applications. Excellent stuff.

They have different sorts of sealants and glues, but I cannot comment on the type which @Jean Mercier mentioned. But If it is the wrong type it will be the best wrong type you can get.

I agree completely, Hedin is the biggest Mercedes dealer of the country (and now also some other brands). There is even a Hedin dealer at about 1 km from my place. I was quite disappointed when I saw Ineos gave them the dealership. The new maintenance workshop in the neighborhood of Verviers or Liège seems to be independent of Hedin and a 4x4 upgrade specialist. I forgot the name, tried to Google it, but didn't find it yet. Very short name, that's the only thing I remember. I have a very bad memory for names and numbers. I hope they were chosen by Ineos because of their 4x4 passion.

I hope Hedin get's some really dedicated 4x4 lovers as their representatives in the near future, otherwise I will move to another maintenance workshop.

I have to admit, when I go on site, they are friendly, but only when I go on site, otherwise it is radio silence!
Is it Reulsport?

I am trying to remember... I believe the name starts with a G and ends with wagon.
The only G Wagons for sale in Australia are AMG variants and they are AUD$444,000
After that you just get SUV's

I think the Sikalastomer solution as a temporary repair is working, although I had to do both rubber (right side and left side) and it didn't work at once because my work wasn't perfect. I had to put some more at some places. Sometimes the result was "beautiful', sometimes ugly, especially the first intent.

The following small video (link here) shows how I looked for other "infiltrations".
  1. dry up the gutter
  2. tap gently the rubber
  3. look where droplets spit out
You'll see in the video that the left part already got the Sikalastomer, the right part (after the drain tube) not yet, and there some part was still leaking.

Appreciate the DIY work on this, but this really is an INEOS problem to solve.

Yes I know, you are right, but as I don't know how fast Ineos will deliver the rubbers, I got permission to do something in the mean time. And next week I take off to Hungary again with some detours.

Perhaps those Ineos lurkers on the Forum could step forward and assure those early adopters that Ineos are owning this issue and give an idea on timescales for a fix.

All the talk of doing things differently, no Gin Palace dealerships but Clubhouses and Grenadier communities. It just seems like we've ended up with an absentee landlord who doesn't know or understand what the brand values we were sold actually mean when it comes to action rather than words.

Perhaps those Ineos lurkers on the Forum ...
Haha, thanks, I learned a new word :ROFLMAO: ... but indeed, we know they are here. Perhaps they are paid for doing nothing or only sending the positive reviews to their management?
So, for the "lurkers", you may choose which one of the two following comments you will pass to your management:
  • I love my Grenadier
  • I hate the way Ineos Automotive / Hedin are treating me :devilish:

Hi Jean, I am just travelling in Wales and since two days I have the same problem - meaning that water comes thrue the safari window. (Driver side)
Since I am „on the road“ there is not to much what I can do …however, I believe I lernt something…..The water came in twice when the car parked with the front up. It did not happend with the front down. This - at least to me- fit‘s to your observation, that the „hole“ , where the water is suppose to run out is nit the lowest point. (Stupid design…..)
Will keep on watching since tonight will we heavy rain. 🙄😂

Yes.

Jean - great work on this, and good on you for getting after it.

But this is the sort of stuff I was constantly doing with my 1978 Jeep CJ-7, and my 1975 Toyota FJ-40 (which I owned roughly 1985-1995). I bought the CJ for $2,000 and the FJ-40 for $1,500 - so the work was expected and was a hobby on its own. Water dripping on your feet is a 1970s Jeep thing, it should not be a 2023 Grenadier thing.

There was a lot of rain tonight, my car slightly with the front uphill, very slightly, and for the first time in months no water in the car, and my finger didn’t become wet when putting it in the hole of the dismounted sun shield.

Therefore I mounted the upper side trims and sun shield back in place.

Happy to read that. So my observation that parking downhill hepls…..well, we need a solution for the flat areas 👍🏻😂😂

Ha very funny - I had the same idea yesterday…..couldn’t find a second wedge …therefore was using a stone. I had another rainy night and again, no water since I parked front downhill.
It seems that this idea also worked with the car from Jean Mercier. So maybe Ineos should spend a pair of wedges to everybody with safari windows. 😂😂
Okay- at least an intermediate solution until the dealer has a chance to fix the route cause of the problem. To me it seems to be not so difficult for a pro. car shop to redesign the „hole“ water the drainage to the lowest point - where it belongs.

@NoAge Hunter : I think you misunderstood! My solution was putting Sikalastomer on the rubber. This solved my problem of the rubber leaks (temporarily).

Your comments are pertinent too: with the car front uphill, the water doesn't reach the drain tube and stays in the gutter, therefore seeping through the window seal itself, if I understood it correctly.
These are two different problems.
And your solution is indeed perfect and important to mention!
