Passenger side Grab Handle: Part numbers and prices

Today I got the quotes for the passenger side grab handle. In my case (Germany) it is the LHD version.
A quick response and a good service in this regard.

I only got a screenshot which you can see below.

This does not include VAT and sums up to 329,29€.
Plus 19% VAT in Germany makes 392,60€.
If you don't mount it yourself, you will most likely end up with around 500€.

For a handle ...

Interesting: the mail contains two pictures side by side - parts and prices, which looks like one picture in the mail, but there are two: one with the parts, and the other one with the prices. I glued them together.
So it seems clear that the prices were calculated by the dealer and are not INEOS prices.

That's a lot of money just to avoid using the large round grab handle that comes with the vehicle.

There are a lot of places to grab hold of to help get in, easier if you have selected the side steps

I have experimented getting in at both open days and 3 different dealers display.
As I have had both my knees replaced, and I am far from svelte, a dainty entrance and exit is important.
Side steps make things much easier, I found stepping up onto them first, then getting into the vehicle makes things so much more controlled.
Particularly getting into the back seat.
Dismounts in tight parking spaces is also a two step process (pun intended)

It sort of looks like there's either a minimum order price for a single item being added cumulatively or they didn't really look at a parts diagram before making up the prices?

On the other hand - it does make the trim piece and the handle themselves appear good value for money if the plastic is sold by the kg.

And being doubly positive they must also throw in the Torx bolts for free:

PS - Now I know how expensive those caps are, I'm going to glue them down...

@DCPU. A picture says more than thousand curses.

The caps are worth a 3D-print (although it takes a good CAD-designer). Printing is then a penny thing.

I bet they're charged as "small parts" for 20€.

If insurance companies go off and research post-accident replacement parts cost NO company is going to insure this vehicle. On the other hand, those prices are getting into a range where private equity will abandon biotech and get into Grenadier replacement parts.

It was always a good exercise for a wet Wednesday afternoon to go through the parts list for a vehicle and price up what it would cost if you replaced everything.

If we had CAD-IT in it's original form we could do it.

Buying the vehicle was a loss leader...how much will we all spend over the next 5, 10 or 20 years?

… following Daveb’s helpful array of arrows… using the gutter works very well (if youre tall enough). It means you’re actually slightly lifting yourself, rather than pulling sideways. For older backs and necks, I think it is better than the handle would be, in terms of angles and strain. Not as comfortable on the fingers, but very effective.
Wouldnt the handle get in the way of seeing whe making turns? I always assumed that’s why it is only on the passenger side.

I suppose i should have phased it better as a question! ‘does the handle..’
i was thinking more about design regulations being very picky about possible obstruction. Years ago we were not allowed anything on windscreens at all for that reason; now people stick their phones on giant bracket right in view, to manage uber or whatever other distrations… seems to have changed one way or another. Anyway, you have a car, do you think it would be noticeable during turns on the drivers side?

In terms of RHD, I don't need one to get into the drivers seat, I've always used the steering wheel. UNLESS getting in is tight (door not all the way open for example), then the pillar grab handle is very handy. The one up top will do the job, just not as well.
A grab handle on the pillar for the passengers is however very much generally required on a vehicle this tall, and luckily it's supplied in the RHD.

I found getting into the back seats a bit of a PITA without grab handles though, and this is where I reckon getting them retrofitted would be worth it if you had people getting in and out of the back all the time..

Yes, you can use the door, or the top handles, or the body frame, or the seat or the roof rails or whatever at a pinch, but for the extra $30 it would have cost to install handles in the rear to give a much better entry, it would have been worth it.
