Unless it is something to do with implementing transport mode, or disengaging transport mode?
That should have been WELL and truly sorted at the factory... but there must be something else. It's not possible to have freight>drive modes not working before software is finalised in the factory run out... or is it?? Woooo maybe it is!!! I am sticking to the theory that they are replacing a part/s - as they had a QA problem with something, and the software is secondary (on the back of Jean's comments).

Testing IT systems should have been done during PT02 test driving - over a year to get something working. This would have come up earlier in testing... to find out after cars hit the dealers' floors is odd.
My Mercedes had a firmware update two years ago to correct a problem they had found.
It was built in November 2014

I wondered if there was a time limit or wake up count limit that's causing the issue. If the former then it's saved a load of vehicles going on long voyages and then only finding the issue.

I guess that even though the grenadier is a stripped down no nonsense vehicle its impossible to make something these days that doesn’t have a ‘brain’.
If they brought it out with no electronics at all and a pull out stop button I’d still have bought one! Some of you may remember them..

I don't know
It seems easy to make things without a brain

I'm more confused than I was this time last week. I understood that my car ("January Build") was in batch and hold, was told this by IA on two occasions when trying to sort out my contract. Yesterday I spoke with the retailer on when the car would be expected in the UK, they suggested more definitive updates could only come from IA - called just now to be told that my car should be 'in production' soon! I now want to know, have they built the bloody thing or not?

To be clear, not sick of waiting; if i knew what was going on I wouldn't be frustrated but been treated like a mushroom* does not appeal to me.

I responded to one of their tweets earlier saying that communication were unacceptable. This was the reply.

it annoys me that they’re promoting the vehicle to new customers but failing to update order holders.

That answer I am happy with - but as you say, they should be telling us without us having to pester.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I feel like a nuisance phoning up asking for updates, it shouldn't really be like that.

Also, while ever there aren't real updates, speculation of all kinds will run out out of control and we will naturally begin to lose faith in our vehicles before they have even been delivered. Reliability and 'fit for purpose' should be demonstrable from the moment of order and the transaction of a deposit.

I suspect they have backed themselves into a corner. Batch and Hold made sense and bought them time to fix the software issue, only it seams the software issue isn't fixed and maybe a larger array of problems. Obviously they can't come out and tell us that now, so maybe we'll have to face radio silence for a bit longer.

I currently respond to all their posts on linkedin and Twitter with a question on poor communication. This was the first reply I have received. In any case, the answer they gave today doesn’t add up, because there are cars at dealerships now that have got through QC at the factory.

Reply to them asking what the delay is for all those vehicles already at dealers. Surely they are not awaiting parts.

I never really wanted updates as such. I just wanted to be able to plan ahead, now that I know it will be May at the earliest I can do that. If May turns into July however I’ll be getting upset again.

Maybe your first one failed in QA and they're building you a new one?

I agree it is a total nuisance continually phoning for updates, so stop doing it.
I guarantee you they want to deliver your vehicle (and get paid for it) as soon as they possibly can.
Every minute and every dollar they spend answering calls and preparing update videos and releases is time and money they could be spending on the vehicle.

But that needs to go on for all our sakes ~ if there's not new sales down the line then there's not the money to pay the warranty engineers and all the other services we may be wanting in the future.

I thought batch and hold was mostly for the physical parts and processes. Some they've discovered themselves and some from feedback from agents/dealers (was it @Shaky who posted on this?). They were doing this in any event way back with earlier iterations:

Software is perhaps two issues ~ idle emissions & transport mode. The latter only being evident after a number of vehicles have been shipped.

Finally, there's the vehicle registration issue. In the UK posting forms to DVLA is a lottery all of it's own.

This is why I fantasize about buying a Mahindra roxor and trying to get it street legal.

I'm now coming to a mindset that I could well be on a 73 plate

Come on Dave, you are usually the voice of reason on this board, but I have to pull you up on this. Are you trying to tell me that if the customers stop ringing the customer service numbers, then those staff who normally answer the phones can go back to their real jobs building IG’s or working on software updates.

With regard to update videos it has to be the cheapest way to communicate to the masses. Record a 3 min video and chuck it on YouTube. Job done. Oh, and just send a mass email as well to let anyone who cares know it’s there.

I see from just catching up on a few posts, my situation is not unique then and others have been given the good news that their vehicle is built and then weeks later been informed that actually no it’s not even been started yet.

It’s a shame that I feel like I am a hindrance to a company I am about to spend £66k with and I can assure you I have never runs the CS centre and only rung my dealer once to make changes and visited them twice in 3 months. I don’t think that would be considered stalking or an offence under the Harassment Act !!

I will semi patiently wait my turn and delivery which I have been told to expect May, but I would be more than willing to bet good money won’t be until end of June.
